Default Header install finally complete

After a month and ten days I completed my header install, Pacesetter LT's with ORY-pipe. That has to be close to a record for longest install. I got the old system off easy enough. The header install wasn't that bad, taking off the coil pack on the passenger side helped. Then I go to put on the y-pipe, and something just doesn't look right. I recived the wrong y-pipe (lt1 instead of ls1). So it took a few weeks to send the old one back and get the right one. Put the y-pipe on and try to connect the Loudmouth to the y-pipe, and the Loudmouth pipe was crimped and I could not get the pipe onto the y-pipe far enough. Tried heating and hammering for a solid hour with no luck. A few days later found a pipe expander and got it on. So I've driven the car the past two weeks now with no problems other than the y-pipe banging, but it's not that bad.

The car is actually quieter than I thought it would be driving along at 55. And its plenty loud enough when I want it to be. I will probably get a bullet muffler installed sometime next spring, but for the rest of this year until winter hits, my apartment complex will just have to deal with the LT's, ORY-pipe, and Loudmouth combination.

The loudmouth I have was 3" EXCEPT for where it connects to the factory Y, which is 2 3/4". And the Pacesetter ORY was necked down on the end less than 3", yet a little bigger than 2 3/4". I had to cut some slits in the end of the Pacesetter Y and hammer that bitch on, as a temporary solution. Later I cut off the end of the ORY up to the 3" section and cut off the 2 3/4" taper from the LM & put a piece of 3" exhaust tubing to connect them.
I highly recommend turning the LM into a "BorlaMouth". It's loud when you get down, but tame enough to navigate through town. The Borla XR-1 -will- get louder over time, but mine has been on for 80,000 miles now and is tolerable, no rasp at all.

Thats funny, I just finished mine yesterday too, were all doing LT installs at the same time, congrats by the way.

What are you going to do about your ypipe banging? Let me know, it usually doesnt happen for me in lower speeds but 55 and up when the car decelerates is when it usually occurs. Let me know.

You can get a Mufflex bump stop hanger for the Y pipe banging. Part # 95-LS1-HR. Thunder Racing carries them. My LT's are going on tomorrow!

Mine just sat on jackstands for a month though, during primetime summer weather. I'll have to spend some time at ls1sounds.com listening to the options, but borlamouth will prolly be the way I go.

Getting ready to do LT's on mine and the bump stop is the way to go. A freind at work bought a used T/A and it already had one on it and it works great, you don't even know it's there. Plus it's easier than the poly motor mounts!!
