Where to get True Duals?? Current setup=LT's w/ORY into single Borla XR-1 bullet muffler SLP "BORLAMOUTH"
Setup Wanted=LT's into X-pipe w/ true dual setup with new mufflers
Which mufflers? Can I use 2 XR1's?
Who does true dual installations in NY?

Awesome, thanks for your help guys. I think im going to just purchase the X-PIPE kit from Summit for $100 & now i just have to decide which mufflers to use.

Buy another XR-1 and try to fit it under the car on the other side
or
Go with a thinner exhaust like the Sweet Thunder Chambered?
Any opinions from experience ?
I obviously want the best flow/sound.
oh and whats the TSP? probably something obvious that i missed

XR-1's are without a doubt the best mufflers for TD's. It's also the most $$$ mufflers you can go with. I highly recommend going with the pre fabbed TSP kit, and just throwing on the borla XR-1s like i did. Sweet thunders sound great, but their flow charecteristics are not the greatest.

o, and here's a pic of the XR-1's under my car....ground clearance isn't too bad if you're not lowered. It's all about the effort to get them to tuck.

Holy **** man those things look pretty low under your car! Im lowered with the DMS springs all around.. I might have some clearance issues. I def love the sound of the XR-1's though so im prob gonna go with another one.
Do you scrape a lot? Are yours dumped right after the Borla's before or after the axle? Cant really tell.
Im gonna also go with the Crossover Pipe, X-Style, Steel, Aluminized, 3 in. Diameter, Universal, Kit from summit racing. 3 INCHES is what I want right??

Actually no, i don't scrape much at all. My nose is slammed, and i'm running stock rear springs. The mufflers have scraped once that i can remember, and more than anything, the X-pipe scrapes as it's actually the low poit on the car. they really look alot lower than they are.
I have Magnaflow mufflers, part # 10416, on my true duals. Parked side by side with a car that had true duals with the Borla XR1's. My car has a deeper sound to it. Not to mention my Magnaflow's cost $50 compared to the $100+ for the XR1's.

ok, if ground clearance is an issue, i reccomend going with lane's duals. they come completely welded, and he gives you the choice of using flo-pro twisters which in my opinion are the best dual's mufflers in existence! they have absolutely no rasp, a bit of drone, but at idle, mid throttle to wot (basically anywhere above 1800 rpm) they sound like a ******* monster of a ol' chevelle supersport, and at wot is sounds like a nascar. They are loud, but ive never heard anything nicer. Also, they come welded, so all you have to do is drill some holes beneath the passenger's seats to hang the custom hangers. Its very simple, and by all means installing the lt's will be the tough part. in my case, one the car was raised up, it took maybe an hour at tops to get the t'd up and installed. They are a bit more expensive, 550 before shipping, but the quality is unmatched, and so is the sound! If you have any q's shoot me a pm

From my research 3 inches isn't neccessary on a stock cube, bolt-on motor. 2.5in flows more than enough for your needs. If you plan on FI or a bigger motor 2.5 isn't going tobe that much of a restriction, but if you want to eek out every little bit of hp then go 3.
If you're going to dump your exhaust some XR-1's would fit better if you beat in the floor pan under the rear seats, wouldn't look pretty if you were under ther car but you couldn't tell outside of it.
If you're going over the axle the XR-1's would fit almost perfectly in the slots next to the t-top pan. My friend and I built my dual set-up going over the axle with Borla Pro XS mufflers. The Borla Pros are alot wider than the XR-1's so we had to massage the pan a little but they fit perfectly. Good Luck

I've been debating between 2.5" and 3" tru duals for the 396. I had 3" tru duals (with H pipe) on my IROC when I put in the ZZZ crate motor, and it sounded awesome, but the low end torque wasn't there. I had hooker 1 3/4 LTs, and flowmaster mufflers. I didn't piece the parts together as I had someone else do it and they thought I was nuts when I told them I didn't think there was enough back pressure. His reply was, if you think thats true then stuff a potato in one of the pipes. That is when I stopped going to him.
I switched to a Banks exhaust Y pipe / cat back system, and it was quieter and felt like it had more low to mid range torque. It could have been the pipes, or just mis matched components.
Anyway the two tubes went over the axles, so it can be done. I now see that you can buy a tubular upper PHR that is bent to clear tru dual over the axle pipes.
