Default Need a y-pipe for LS1

Hey guys......i drive a 2001 z28 with 3 inch slp loudmouth exhaust(dual dual). The stock y-pipe sucks and was going to buy a better one. Was curious which one will give me horsepower and performance. I've heard good and bad things about SlP y-pipe. curious which one to go with.

If you have stock cats then the stock Y-pipe is not
holding you back in any meaningful way. It may be
ugly and may be flattened, but the pipe is way less
a choke than the honeycomb.

SLP Y-pipe took me some severe beating and three
rehangs to get right, on my A4 convertible. And made
nothing more than a minor change in exhaust note,
no evident power improvement.

I'd just avoid messing with it, unless you plan to go
with "test tubes" or something like that due to smog
regime. Then a used one (they are stainless, and will
not go bad) might make some sense (in a bent-by-
local-legalities sort of way).

I didnt notice any difference with power but my slp y pipe fit great and did make the sound of the exhaust a little deeper.

A lot of aftermarket Y-Pipes are flattened. My Magnaflows are. As stated above, the flat spot doesn't impose a show-stopping restriction. They are made with flat spots for ground clearance issues.
