Default New mods!

Ok,

So I finally broke down and dropped the $6.07 on the 3' to 3' Fernco smooth bellow. I can tell it has a sharper throttle response plus i finally de-screened the MAF as well. I didnt realize that it was so turbulent that it was audible before....Now, I have a fairly large cam, and it does make more valvetrain noise than my 226 did by far. But after I got this bellow in place and the MAF back on it was so quiet it sounded unreal the noise that was coming from the valve covers.

Anyway, regardless if it actually makes a difference or for what it is worth. If you have stock bellow it is so worth it to to spend less than 10 bucks and 15 minutes. This is literally the easiest thing that i have ever done on this engine.

I read up on it a bit, and people actually say that it is hard to do...wtf?
Anyone that says that this is hard is crazy...!

Lol, yeah I got mine from Home Depot. I couldn't tell a bit of difference but it was a lot cheaper than SLP's for like 60 bucks.

do you have any dyno #'s to back this up. you are probably seeing a difference because you descreaned your maf. if you would of done these seperatly and still felt a difference that would be a different story.

From what I've read, I wouldn't (and haven't) descreened the MAF or done the FERNCO (Home depot smooth bellows) mod.

The Bellows can crack your lid, and don't give you any power.

Descreening your MAF can get crap in your engine, and mess up your tune. Also doesn't give any power.

I had posted a question earlier on the exposed rumor of a smooth bellow cracking your lid, #1 the bellow (stock or smooth) never comes in contact with your lid. #2 you would have to have an ungodly amount of hp backing up that engine to create enough engine torque to twist it so much as to crack the lid. now im not saying this from experiance-but from what others have told me on this board.

wait ... now i'm confused The bellow is CONSTANTLY in contact with your lid.

But as for cracking the lid. I've run my SLP smooth bellow for going on 3 years now without a single problem.

The bellow attaches from the lid to the MAF. There is no hp gain from a smooth bellow unless you maybe have a 90/90 with a 408+ setup. Then you MIGHT see +1 or 2 hp depending on how much air you're moving through the heads. Descreening the MAF is so useless as well. It only makes things worse for your car, tricking it into causing a lean condition. Yes, leaner = more hp, but obviously not good for your engine.
