Question Borlamouth or Hooker?

hey guys i need help here...i can't make up my mind!....i'm buying my first catback for my Z very soon(this weekend)and i was wondering if i be better off going with a hooker catback....the reason is that I will be adding pacesetter LT's and TSP catted Y this spring and i wanna know if Borlamouth would be considered too loud or would hooker sound bad *** and not be as loud as borlamouth....what i'm trying to say is i love LOUD exhaust but there is a such thing as too loud(like shattering my ears loudand getting yelled at by the locals )and its my daily driver......so would borlamouth be quite enough with the LT's and catted Y when crusing and loud when i want it or would the hooker be more of somthing i be looking for with the same headers and catted Y???...please help me decide!!! feedback for the ones who have these setups i would greatly appricate it! thanx!

btw i'll be adding a 3000 stall converter with a 1.9 str....thanx again!

i picked up the hooker catback because i plan on going with LT's and ORY soon and i wanted to keep a semi-mellow tone that will still sound badass

Ok well heres what i can tell you from hearing both systems with different setups. My friend has the exact setup your talking about, Pacesetter Lt's TSP Catted Y and Hooker Catback, it is very quiet at idle but when you go WOT you definately know its there but still isnt terribly insane loud which is what he wanted. I have Pacesetter Lt's Pacesetter O/R Y Dynomouth exhaust. It on the other hand is loud from idle on up but it isnt TERRIBLE but it is loud, but when Im at the track Ive always had someone come to me telling me it sounded good. All in all I love the dynomouth, its so crazy sounding when under a bridge and you rack it off and it echos, i love it.

If you think you'll want to get a cam in the future, I would definitely get the Hooker. The Hooker sounds sounds perfect with a cammed car, and maybe too quiet for some tastes without a cam. I'm very happy with my Hooker and street cam.

yeah cam next summer but smaller then yours....more like a 216 or maybe a 220....cam wise i just want something with a lil more kick then stock but enough to change sound and not have a choppy idel....but still see good power....30-50hp increase...i also find it hard to understand cams even after reading the sticky twice...so i donno what cam to get as of now, but anyways i'm still leaning towards hooker

I'd get the Hooker then.

BTW, there's no good reason to get a smaller cam than what I have. With the smaller cam you'll just be giving up hp and gaining nothing else in the bargain. I'd seriously consider the TR224/224 114LSA for your A4. The 112LSA is better for M6s because you don't have the same idle issues as with an A4.

Anyway, good luck! with whatever you decide.

There are several different cat-backs that are the way you are describing.
Not to be a stick in the spokes, but why are you just looking at these 2 types?

I have the Borlamouth with LTs and it's fine for me. I've never heard the Hooker from inside a car. If you want a complete catback you don't have to do any hacking/welding on I would just go with Hooker or another system you like.
However, if you can pick up a used Loudmouth system pretty cheap, + the cost of the Borla XR1 muffler to replace the resonator, it might work out cheaper.
BTW, I've had the Borla XR1 on for over 80K miles and it still sounds good.

i will never run anything else but the hooker, plus i could buy 2-3 hooker catbacks for the price of one borla catback, and sound better and run equal power.

I got the 112LSA with the Hooker CB, and it's pretty smooth. The 114 with a Hooker wouldn't sound much different than stock. Very smooth cam.

I didn't like the looks of the Borlamouth. It's like 5" in diameter and looks ugly hanging down. I followed my wife going over a hill and saw the Borlamouth hanging low. I bought a Hooker system after listening to LS1 exhaust sound clips. No more 2000 rpm drone, it's real quiet inside the car. Outside the car it's sounds beautiful, not to loud and not to quiet, just perfect.
