headers and cats questions
headers and cats questions well im looking at getting the pacesetter LTs for my 01 silverado 5.3, but i want to get them with a 2.5" collector cuz im going with true duels, 2.5" exhaust into 2 high flow cats, then a X pipe, then to 2 bullet performance mufflers, but i wanted to know do the headers come with a 2.5" collector, or do i get em with a 3" collector, and if i get em with a 3" collector, where do i make the pipes turn into 2.5"? on the cats outlet or what? and also, my next question was which brand of high flow cats should i go with? im looking for the ones that have the best performance and i found a few but i need some opinions, just let me know fellas, thx
I'm almost positive that they'll come w/ 3" collectors. All you have to do is have the muffler shop put reducers on the header collectors ... then you can run the 2.5" piping from the reducers back.
Look at random technology or magnaflow carsound cats. Those are the two highest flowing cats to my knowledge. I've been researching them alot lately trying to pick which cats I want to put in the Ypipe i'll be having built for my car in the next month or two.

I agree, the header will have 3" collectors, all you need is to neck it down to 2.5". An exhaust shop should be able to do this, or you can often by parts from some of the exhaust makers.
Not sure how much room you have under the truck, but I like Random Technology CATS, the 9000 series would probably suit you best, or if space is restrictive the 8100 series.
You might want to go with 3" in/outlet CATS so these can go on strait from the headers. Then neck it down to 2.5".
Magnaflow do some nice X pipes.
Then just pick you're mufflers and tail pipes.
