Default How to Port LS1 TB

I would like to know does anyone have the instructions on how
to port your LS1 TB? I have searched and searched with no luck.
I hear the all the talk about it but no how to do it. I also would like
to know what tools to use. I can't find the detailed instructions at all
on how to port and polish your TB. Need help!

Throttle Body Porting

Here's one write-up on it. You can use a die grinder (if you have access) or a dremel.

It looks and is described like a piece of art and accufab has a really nice unit too and Nx has one with the swirl bult right into the inlet of the TB,Has anybody on here bought are heard anything about the TB i just mentioned, exspecially the MTI one ????? LOL!!! THANKS GUYS and PS ide stay away from the fast myself,My buddys was sticking and he fixed it with a set screw to keep the plate from walking and lightly polished the bore and its fine now but **** **** you gotta fix right out the box LOL!!!

You can buy a stock TB that is ported and polished from a couple of the guys on here (I can't think of their names at the moment) for relatively cheap. Plus they will take your old one for a core

I'm with the majority on this one, just get your stock one ported and polished, bump stop mod couldn't hurt either.

Go to neweraperformanceparts.com (one of the sponsors on the right>>>>>>>)

or PM Matt@New Era for any questions i think its $75 bucks and youll have YOUR TB back and ready to put on in 3 days.

i am porting mine on my ls1 but i have seen some throttle bodies where the bar that the blade mounts too has been removed on one side and the screws put on directly to the blade is that hard to do to remove that one piece of the bar ?

does it make that big of a difference if you fill in the gap where the air flows into the iac and all that vs just porting it and not filling it in? also, should i knife edge the blade and cut off half the retainer bar and grind the bolts down? i just dont know what is necessary and what isnt.

I never understood why people pay to have their tb's ported when its so easy to do with basic tools.

Port the stocker. I did it, it's a worthwhile mod. There are some good porters around here. Bo White comes to mind first and foremost. Later I upgraded to a 90mm setup, gave my buddy my stock ported one because his fast 78mm took a dump. It would stick shut, and open. Happened to him on the street and at the track several times. He's happy now.
