Default Second break... oil on spark plug threads

okay i'm almost done with the drivers side... seems easy so far... i've just got to put in the last one(closest to the firewall) BUT the old one has motor oil on it...

where as the first three had that anti- sleeze stuff this last one had engine oil on the threads... what does that mean? I remember when doing my lt1, someone said it was pretty bad for a car to have that... just dont remember what it means...

If you had even a minor valvecover leak, it could have puddled in the plug recess on the head. (when I think about it) I usually spray down the head area pretty good to get any oil, crud, leaves, bugs-well you get the idea. Just install the plug and clean things up a little later on, then pull the plug and look at it again.

BTW, anti sieze is your friend for plug changes. But you already knew that.

My stock spark plugs all had oil on the threads, I wouldn't worry about it. I think GM just puts oil on the threads because it's cheaper than antiseize. That one probably had oil on it because someone change the plugs before and skipped it because it was too hard to get to.
