Default Water Temp gauge acting up lately

My water temp gauge has been acting kind of funny lately. Sometimes it wont read that the car is fully warmed up (just shy of 210) even though the car has been running for 30 min or so. And sometimes the needle will bounce ever so slightly. It will reach the op. temp ... and then when I'm at a redlight and I glance down, the needle is just going up and down.

I'm hoping its just that my sensor is starting to go, and its not something to do w/ the actual gauge itself. Anyone have any symptoms similar to mine before?

it doesn't read the correct temp anyway..only the 98s were remotely acuurate. i just got a scan gauge hooked up to my car. My coolant temp read from 190-205 for my 75 mile drive to work, although the temp gauges never ever moves.

I know its a dummy gauge. But I'd like to know that the dummy gauge is working atleast. So that i know if its atleast running at normal temp. Hoping that atleast if the car did start to overheat the gauge will read a hair over 210

I've seen my gauge go up or down slightly at lights sometimes, but never going back and forth. My guess would be the sensor, connector or wires.

Yea, check the sensor and then get an Autometer Water Gauge, much more accurate a more peace of mind.

well...to prove a point..i went outside and let my car idle a bit..it went to 220...and still didn't move from were it always stand..right before the 210 mark. so my "working DUMMY" gauge didn't move from 190-220 mark...so i wonder when it actually does move?

get one of these

http://www.aeroforcetech.com/ it reads what the computer gets..which is correct..and its really easy to install.
