Default True Duals Or Catback???

I hear that true duals w/xpipe get great power but, they also have a problem w/cab noise and that they hang too low...
Are True Duals Really Worth It???

I believe duals might make a little more power over a well designed cat back, but as far as "is it worth it?" That's up to your wallet.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/advanced-engineering-tech/398761-two-must-reads-advanced-engine-heads.html

also try a title only search for "dual" or "duals" - lot's of info out there

i doubt your runing over 500hp so i would just go catback (less money, no drone in the cab, and no clearance problems)...its up to you man

I think a well done y pipe setup with flowmaster merge and a good catback like the dynomouth or hooker or magnaflow will flow just about as good as any true dual system without the hassle and interior noise.

Try a double X pipe. It signifigantly reduces cabin noise, but gives you just the same sound at wot outside the car. Also, in some cases (i dont know about ls1) it definatly improves performance.

here's my dyno from the wife's car comparing the borla 3" adjustable catback to the bassani tru-duals. granted i'm not making 500, but i think it did pretty well. this was on stock cam as well. and the cabin noise was way less with the bassani.

Go with a good catback if youve got the budget get a borla adjustible sound and driveability is great. If you go with true duals you will make i little more power but you wont even get over a speedbump at 2 mph with your car going almost completly sideways. if you want more sound from the catback get a cut out or remove your
cat(s).

i have no clearance issues with the bassani. and it goes all the way out back. main reason why there's no ground clearance issues is because the one muffler is in the stock location. you could buy the borla adjustable if you want. and leave 15 rwhp on the table to boot.

I plan on running LT's, ORY, Flowmaster merge, with a 18" bullet off the y-pipe. Should flow well enough.

Im in same dilemma. I have borla adjsutable right now. But plan on going LTs here real quick. I want an exhaust to really rip and sound super loud. Police around here dont care. Im lowered on 18s and am not sure if i can go duals do to major ground clearance. However i hear my borla sounds horrible on LTs, ORY and no cats. Should i get the LTs, ORY and cutout for my borla, or sell the borla, get TSP or bassani duals, or get a diff cat back? I know duals have the extra power but i dont want to be scraping everywhere.

the bassani will be quieter than the borla. so, if you want loud, don't go that route.

I love my dual setup. The only thing is to make sure you go to the right shop. Duals can be made so that they don't hang too low.

Duals all the way. Mine hang lower than they should, but I still clear all speed bumps and I'm lowered 1/2". Power gain was amazing and sound is unreal. Yes, there is some interior noise, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am getting ready to finish the duals out under the axle and out the rear to reduce my interior noise, but I would never go back to a catback. I've lived with the noise for almost a year now, and it is bearable. But I think I will enjoy it more once it is out from under the car.
