Sounds fishy to me, mine went on in about 30 minutes flat. Everything fit with room to spare, and the tips fit perfectly.

I test fit the tips on the pipes before going near the car and one would not go on. The pipe was slightly out of round, a rubber mallet and some gentle whacks and it was fixed. Everything else was a very good fit.

This guy is an idiot or he's ripping you off thinking your an idiot.I dont know, but its probably too late to stop him.I'm not sure what you should do.I diffenitly wouldnt be paying him for something he apparently didnt know what he was doing.Or he does and is scamming.

Did he decide to do all this custom work on his own without your consent. If so then this is on him.I hate when people take it upon themselves to fabricate extra work, charge you more and expect you to just pay and go about your business.

He should of contacted you.Explained the problem,if there even was one. Then you could've decided the route you wanted to take,or at least get a second opinion.

he's full of ****. I've worked at several shops that did exhaust and hooker as well as other such systems are 10 times easier to install than to custom fab something. I'd tell him to forget it and give it all back as it was when you brought it. If he says he can't do that then go up their and see for yourself why it won't work. I bet he screwed up something and is trying to cover for himself.

I also have the hooker exhaust on my 99 trans am and it all went on fine! I tell you to tell him tuff ****!!! Tell him youll pay him what he quoted you and no more!! If he doesnt like it tell him to take it off and youll put it on!! I wouldnt pay him that much to put on the exhaust! Its not hard more of a pain in the *** than hard. But everything slid on fine.

There is nothing to custom fabricate, the only thing he custom fabricated is some bullshit excuse to get you to pay more!

Good luck bro!

That guy is sooo full of it...... there is nothing to "custom" fit, the pass side tailpipe doesn't have a bracket, only the driver's side does...

That's exactly why I bought a flux core welder ... four years ago for $180 on Ebay, now you get these for $150 at WalMart

Flux core welds are "gorilla welds" - but nothing that a grinder cannot fix

It great to be able to change mufflers/exhaust pipes/tips at home ... without having to buy gas (flux core)...

I have had two diff Hooker catbacks on two different F-bods. Both went on without a hitch. I did it in my garage on jackstands in 30 min. I DID however trim the piping for the exhaust outlets from the muffler, just to get the perfect look I wanted for the rear valance. Not absolutley neccasary, but what I wanted.

If you are talking about a simple cat-back, the guy doesn't sound competent.

I did mine in an afternoon. My dual tips fit great, but I had to cut back the outlets since they were too long.

I had to turn the left rear hanger around to move it in so it would fit, but that was only taking out two bolts, turning around a part, and putting it back on.

I had to bend a piece on the right rear hanger to make it go together. Good thing I've got a big vise, 'cause the piece was thick.

But those two little things aren't worth $180. You sure you ordered the correct setup?
