i have an lm7 5.3l vortec engine that i plan on dropping into my datsun 240z. can i use an ls1 loop and computer with this engine. i plan on using the intake and oilpan from an ls1 for clearence issues.

also im trying to drop the compression ratio on this engine. i have heard that ls1 heads will do this but how much will it actually lower it to. im trying to get it around a 8-9:1 ratio.

 

LS1 compression ratio is 10.1:1, but i dont know what it would be on a 5.3. You could get some new heads though, and go with a 72cc chamber, and that would help quite a bit to get it down.

 

I thought the truck heads would have a lower compression ratio.
