The M1 5W40 is pretty good and you shouldn't burn any of that, it's better than the 0W40 they have out now and way better than their 5W30 (you'll burn that like water). You can easily go 6,000+ miles with any of those though.

Amsoil is just about the best on the market right now. I'm part of their Preffered Buyer program and can get it wholesale for you if you want. The 5W40 is about $70 for a case of 12 shipped, or single qts are $5.20.

What did GM put in when it was new? I think Modil 1? I could be wrong, but I think most of these 12 second cars are using it.

The M1 5W-40 and the AMSOIL Euro 5W-40 are both good oils in these engines and they are both priced about the same. Do not be afraid to use either. No need to do half and half or anything else special just pour them in.

Question: Burning questions aside (my engine burns absolutely ZERO *thank god*) what oil is best for performance in Cali and Nevada temps? We're talking from 50* to 105* ambient temps? Sorry - don't mean to hi-jack the thread... just wanted to ask

Currently running 5w-30 M1

Currently running 5w-30 M1
One of the 5W-40 oils will work great in that temp range although it seems that your car is a rare one that is happy with M1 5w-30.
