which one do you like the most with LTs, ORY
I know what you mean I looked at them last night and right after the axle they split,
sooo, how about that...
any solution?
If it turns out to be too loud, then a catted Y is an option, Random Technology make some that outflow most mufflers.
Or you could add and extra muffler the the I pipe before the axel. There's lots of scope here but personally to retain the sound I would look at fitting another chambered muffler just like the GMMG already has. This should reduce the noise DB level and make a more toned sound.

Are what you want, the outflow most mufflers out there, and will not affect the HP of your motor. They are pretty cheap too. But only availble in aluminiumised steel.
If you want to keep it stainless then Stainless Works (a sponsor --->) makes some thing similar. Although they are more pricey.
This way you should have a good sounding exhuast, it may still be loud but acceptable.
Borla XR1 mufflers also flow well and are popular, but I'm personally not so keen on the sound.
I actually want the very very loud GMMG with LTs, and ORY but I want to be able to go quiet during my commuting, traveling etc...
thats why I m thinking about be able to switch between the muffler section after the axle
well... if you guys think it cant be done because of the way the GMMg split toward the 2 chamber, well I gues there nothing to do about it then....
I know I ll like the very loud loud , just need to be able to quiet it down sometime
I m not looking to destroy my GMMG, or to loose HP, I was jsut thinking of a way to make it modular
whats possible ..... thinking ..... thinking
Basically it's a stock muffler, but it has a butter-fly valve activated by a solonoid that opens at WOT which turns it into a straight thru muffler. This means it is quiet at light throttle (cruising or around town). It also has good back pressure which promotes lower end grunt. However at WOT it opens up, so as to increase performance and sound. This would likely be an expensive option, as you'd have to wire it all in too. And it wouldn't be as loud as many after market units either.
Here's the valve on the Z06:
thanks for your post,
I actually saw a z06 c6 , at the local car show last week and notice right AWAY that kind of exotic butterfly valve thing in the muffler,
looks kick ***
my godfather on his 996 turbo actually has something similar ( at least that what its sound like when he get above 4000 rpms or something ( might just be the turbo psi that kicks in higher...)
anyway I think there is really lots of improvment possible with exhaust technology
more modularity can cheap the police/emissions by a switch of a button or by throttle position, etc...
Update on the modular system I want to get:
LTs, Ory and 02 sims install in January
the over the axle pipe will be cut where it goes into a Y shape ( where the GMMG needs them for the 2 chambered mufflers)
the whole section comes out and make it possible to clamp between GMMG and rear part of my Hooker cat back
the guy looked at my car and my parts and said it would cost just around 75$ to fab it up/make it work...
then all I would have to do is get at the back of the car and unclamp clamps and hangers...
After looking at it I dont think its sciencefiction, seems like what my mechanic says
and by the way I m not looking to butcher my GMMG catback just want to make it modular, dont like the idea of putting cats or bullet muffler to quiet it down
there .............. I will update with big vid and pics when I come back in the states in January.!!
