How do heads change the ls1 exhaust note?

Louder and deeper.
Any exhaust note is something you really have to hear for yourself to understand it. Very hard to describe that sort of sound.

With heads only and nothing else the only way it would change is if your compression was raised. I think it would get a little louder with more compression but maybe not noticably.

Raised compression makes the sound hit harder- ever had a high compression heads/cam/ 112 or less LSA car creep up on ya? You'll feel the lope reverberate deep in your torso. Makes your house shake when you crank up your car.
