Default what problems with headers?

I would like to get some header's for my Z, but I'm a little concerned with the amount of problem's that I read about. Seem's like more often then not when headers are put on an LS-1 you are going to have at least one of, or all of the following problems. Throwing code's, running rough, stuttering, 02 sensor's going out, y-pipe banging, running pig rich, etc.
After reading about headers and LS-1's I give myself a 1 in 3 chance of having this mod be trouble free.
About the engine running rich. Won't the computor adjust for it, given time?
I'm more then willing to listen to any opinion's or advise on this.

Headers on an LS1 are some of the easiest to install. I recommend for ease of installation getting Pacesetter Longtubes and Y pipe. You will need O2 simulators and extensions to keep from throwing codes, all can be had for like 550 from Speed Inc right now. You will also need a Bumpstop Hanger from Thunder Racing to stop the banging of the Y pipe. You can tune out the rear O2's if you have someone tune your car and then you wouldn't need the simulators. The car should run as well as it does now just faster. Doing so I would give you about a 2.9 in 3 chance of having this mod be trouble free. Pretty sure it won't affect the air/fuel ratio at all.

I have had LT's for a couple of years and never had a problem. I installed them with some other mods and had it tuned.

running rough, stuttering, y-pipe banging
yea..i hate this ..especially the y banging it really sucks...i want something to stop that or lowering the y-pipe ..but i'm afraid this will damage the headers

You will also need a Bumpstop Hanger from Thunder Racing to stop the banging of the Y pipe
i'm searching for this

i really hate the great sound i get, the extra power, and how i always want to lay into the gas. it sucks.

on a serious note, i have kooks stepped headers and it was kind of a PITA to install them. but that will be the case with most any header larger than 1 3/4. most 1 3/4 headers will be pretty easy to install. my old 1 3/4 Kooks went in like butter. no complaints here!

I recommend getting a dyno tune. I gained probably 15-20 RWHP with the tune. My car was finicky because the O2s weren't sending accurate information to the PCM, since they were so far from the engine. Regardless, if you get a good tune, you should be good, and not have to worry about drivability problems.

No problems at all here. I ran the car on the dyno w/ a wide band on it, air fuel was dead on, and flat as can be all way to 6100, the shop said not to even bother with a tune , they said all they could really do to squeeze more out of the car was to throw a little bit more timing to it since i don't run cats anymore, but every car is a ltle different, and after the headers, the hp and tq curves were fat all the way up. 320lbs at 3000rpm, carried 342 till 5300,and a peak of 332hp. I'm not gonna tune till i get an ls6 manifold and ported tb, as I won't be doin a cam for at least a year or 2. DO THE HEADERS!

Ditto. I have had Pacesetters, Hookers, and currently FLP's and there was never any kind of problem. the Hookers were a MF to install and remove.
