Default Need Help Baaaaaaaaaaaaad

Ok did the header install and all is good. Now when i start it up the motor shakes and then jumps real bad every few seconds. I put a brand new set of nkg tr55's in and made sure all plug wires are tight, two clicks on coil and pushed on real good on spark plugs. Any suggestions?????? thanks

Make 100% sure that you plugged all the sensors back in. Because I bet thats what it is.

ok ill double check the sensors, now these are the race version pacesetters, so i left the egr out and the air, also i got the extensions and have them installed with the o2's in the headers. I dont have any o2 sims yet. Would this cause it to idle rough and jump real bad every few seconds and backfire?

only thing i have not done is change plug wires, they are still factory ones, but they look great, came right off, real soft and pliable, no burns, i really dont think that is what it is, cause everything was just fine before the header install

Just go over everything first.

Sounds like there is nothing wrong with the plugs wires.

i was just running headers and then i read where the sensors were to close to the opening of the header, so i hooked up mu y pipe temporarily but dont have it hooked up to the catback. Would that make a difference in it idleing rough and motor jumping every few seconds?

No it should not. People run open headers all the time without problems.

How long were they open for?

i havnt even been able to drive it, cause it running so rough and backfiring so bad , i have just let it run for a few min when ever i do something different to see if i fixed it. Should i try replacing the o2's in the headers with the ones in the old y pipe? i went back out and looked at everything real good and the only sensor unplugged is the one in the right front that went to the egr valve. i am really at a loss as to what it is.

changed out both o2 sensors w/the one in the factory y pipe, started up, doing same thing. i dont have anyway to check the codes, but the ses light is on. but i dont have o2 sims and the egr is staying out of the car. that is the only plug not plugged in, the egr plug that is.

****... you have to get those codes read. If you have another car run down to autozone and rent a reader from them. Thats really the only way to pin point whats going on.

I ran mine up to about 130 w/open headers and #8 plug
wire off, unknowingly. No problem except flashing SES.
I drove to work for 2 days (about 270 miles) with the Y
pipe on/no catback.No problem.
If you don't have a sensor or such unplugged,
Is it possible you banged/cracked a plug?
It would show up as misfires, most likely.

plugs are brand new, i put those in because of the problem, didnt help any, i dont know what the problem is, im ready to throw in the towel though, this is rediculous. all the plugs to the coil packs are on good, i have double checked all the sensor plugs and all are in place, still running rough and jerking every once in a while

I am almost positive once you get those codes read that will solve your problem. Still sounds like there is something loose or unplugged to me.

Did you find anyone to rent you a scanner?
