Default AIR system making noise???

The other day my car when I started it up cold, the AIR system was making a weird whirling noise, that normally it doesnt do. I normally can hear it sucking in air but its never been this loud before... any ideas? Anybody have problems with their system? Should I just remove the whole thing... I have stock manifolds... thanks!

My AIR pump tends to sound louder when it's cold out. Not a big deal. Was the temp colder than normal that day?

yeah it was colder out...I'm in Gainesville FLA so it doesnt get real cold but it was probably 40 or 50 something outside... It was just weird cause I had never heard it that loud before.... I mean it wasnt rediculous but.. I could even hear a difference in the exhaust tone... It kinda scared me at first but it stopped after the pump cut off..

I wouldn't worry. My '98 Z28 only has 13K miles on it and the pump still gets a little louder when it's cooler out (40s/50s like you said). My WS6 was the same way....

I sometimes here a sucking sound on startup and my air is removed, you sure you were not hearing the motor on the Tb that controls idle at work? sometimes until the car warms up I can hear that whistling sound as it sucks air through the hole in my TB.

you southern guys should hear and AIR pump when it's in the 20's or below - mine would whine like crazy - worse than any other temperature in my experience

Mine did the same thing - thats why I took it out and threw it in my Cobra driving buddy's front yard.
