Default headers/emission question

I would really like to delete my egr and air out of my 98 Z28. If I were to just block them off and not hook them up would I get any ses lights or would the car run lean/rich?

I'll answer your question. However, I ask that you try to do a search (and read stickies) before asking any more questions. The search button has a wealth of information waiting to be found and works much quicker, and in better depth and detail, with more perspective, than one thread.

Yes, you will get an SES light. You will not pass emissions where there is a competent (sp?) visual inspection or an OBDII type plug in diagnostic. If you plug them up it will run just fine.

would o2 simulators trick the diagnostic and/or IM station. cuz im thinking you could just wrap a cat like baffle around a straight pipe and maybe get away with it? with plugged sensors of course

Blocking the AIR or EGR tubes up its not the best way to do it. The air tubes might crack and break off in time. Get race style headers if you wish to run with out air/egr

what are the advantages to running without AIR and EGR? I've searched a bit, all I could find is that it makes your engine bay look a little cleaner.

AIR and EGR are useless. It cleans up the engine bay, is one or two less things to move out of the way every time you do any work, and it saves weight.

Just block them off, unless you must pass emissions. In that case you can have the codes deleted.
