I've also got the Fast 90mm TB and luckily no issues. However, I did do the few tricks to prevent something from happening (havent needed the spring though).

For all those NW and TPIS lovers, I've seen my share of them with their own issues. It's all part of the game......

I got one of the first TB's Fast sent out. I had to peen the shaft bearing area to prevent the bearing from backing out. I also drilled a dimple hole in the shaft for the set screw on the cam to prevent it from slipping on the shaft.

I haven't had one single problem with it and has continued to work without any issues at all. The fixes are simple and take very little time to do.

TPIS and Nick Williams are the way to go.
If you're satisfied with your rigged TB, that's good for you. Enjoy it.
Exactly. It would be different if they stepped up and changed things. But instead, it was "eh f*ck it!". That's not the way to run a good business or product. To knowing sell something that has a fault (not to mention a potentially dangerous one), then give customers attitude.

Lucky for them, no reports of TB's sticking open and people driving into walls/cars/trees/children/etc., -YET.

I'd sure hate to have my TB stick at the end of a 1/4 mile pass.

Yup you see in this pic you took how the TPIS shaft sticks out ALOT farther than the FAST shaft? well when i first put the FAST in it worked ok, but then i blew my motor. i thought it was cause i had accidently had 87 octane in it when i went to the track.
BUT
then after putting another motor in and putting it on the dyno i noticed that the timing would jump to 34* halfway through a run. put in a new TPS and it went away. dynoed it the next week and it was back. we looked at everything and swapped out every senser trying to fix it. i then thought the FAST shaft might be sticking out too far and ruining the TPS. so i bought a TPIS tb and i was surprised that the shaft was longer. well swapped them out and she is BUTTER now. turns out the shaft on the FAST is too short and would work with a new TPS for a little while but then would start jumping timing everytime you punched it.
**** A FAST TB!

**** A FAST TB!

I just put my Mr. Gasket return spring I picked up from the Auto parts store on tonight. I took it for a test drive and it did okay. But I am worried that somehow the cam that the throttle cable rides in is going to hang up on the return spring at some very in-opportune time. Like when I'm spraying nitrous I'm not to sure how comfortable I am with this spring idea. I'll drive it for a few days and give it hell to see what happens.

This timing issue you mentioned, can it be seen with a scanmaster? When were you seeing it jump around?

Thanks,
jeff

Yeah you can use any scan tool. it would do it at a random RPM. it would be great at 26* then it would nose dive as soon as it jumped to 34*.
Also if i sat there at idle and SLOWLY push on the gas pedal the TPS wouldn't register any movement until about 2500 rpm's.

Well heres one for you. I went ahead and put the return spring on it last night and drove it around last night for a bit and it seemed okay?

I drove it today and put more miles on it and it didnt fix ****. The throttle still hangs up. It is aggrivating as hell with a manual car. But if I had an auto I would be shitting my pants, because it has hung up as high as 3,500rpm. So my deduction is that it "HAS to be" something with the shaft and the TPS. I wanna just throw this SOB in the ocean.

I did notice some erratic movements in the timing when driving. I love my scanmaster and hate my 90mm FAST Throttle Body.

I think I am going to email FAST and give them a link to this site and in particular two posts that are going on in this section pertaining to their product.

Thats cute!
You think they don't know about their JUNK throttle bodies? they know about it they just won't do anything about it.

Their response last year was. "Stick it in a box Attn: Hadley, he'll get around to fixing your TB".
