kinda find that hard to believe... really hard..

and basically you're saying you cant make power unless you have long tubes and true duals?? come on now..

Dude, what's with the MAC Y-pipe? Is it the MAC Y-pipe for their Mid lengths or is it a stock replacement? The shorties are stock length. You need a stock replacement Y-pipe like the SLP.

alright guys well thanks for all the input, yea i think im just gonna go with long tubes into my stock catback. now what do you guys think of the quality and gains out of the edelbrock LT with there y-pipe? i like the price of them, i was gonna get them in the hi-tech coating they have now. i dont really want to spend the big bucks on the slps or kooks is there really that big difference in those really expensive headers? thanks again everyone.

^ Edelbrock is a great LT/Y combo. It's stepped 1 3/4"-1 7/8". Get the fully welded ones without the slip on merge if you don't want to deal with havnig to weld in O2 bungs.
Another budget header to look into is Pacesetter 1 3/4" (about $360). I like the Edel's more than the Pacesetters, but in truth, the Edel's may be a little on the overkill side for a stock internal car.
QTP High Velocity Merge (@ $725) buys you the most bang for your buck with stainless quality, velocity merge technology at the collector, and great fit. QTP and KOOKs cream of the crop, but QTP's just came down from $1100 stratosphere to their current sale price.

With the HVMC's yes, there is a difference in the collector design (provide added response in low and mid ranges, while retaining great top end). The primaries of many LS1 headers are based on the ol' Grottyhan [sp?] design, so collector design plays a differentiating role.

Durien gained HP going from Jet Hot LT's to QTP HVMC's.
My old setup gained HP going from SLP LT's to QTP HVMC's.

I'd go for the pacesetters if you don't want to spend alot of $$. They are the tried and true budget header......You can't go wrong with them. The QTP's will make more power though.
