Default open headers

I'm installing jet hots and I'm going to buy two carsound cats. I just have to search for the part number. I'm wondering if it will be ok to drive my 02 WS6 4 miles to the nearest exhaust shop to fab the y after i install the headers. Also, I know that I will need o2 extensions but I'm thinking I wont need anything else given the shop is going to weld my exhaust pipe.

Actually, if you have the stock cam in still....leave the front O2's off and disconnected. It will force your car into open loop (kinda like when you floor it)....so you'll be at a safe air fuel ratio. If you run the front O2's, it will put a major swing on your fuel trims and dump a ton of fuel in to compensate.

Its 4 miles...people drove 100 plus with open headers to get the rest of the exhaust done. Just screw the o2's in and go

I drove probably 30-40 miles around town with open headers. I had my front o2 sensors in and MIL eliminators in for the rear. I did adjust the A/F a little bit with a MAF Translator, but you shouldn't have any problems at all just going 4 miles to your local exhaust shop. Put the front o2 sensors in and drive it over there.

Get some earplugs.......! So how bad is it to run the front o2's without the back ones for an extended period of time? I have been doing this for about 8 months now. My fuel mileage increased by about 3-4 MPG and the car runs fine. I dropped a considerable amount of time at the track as well. I am planning on having the rear o2's deleted soon, just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Also need to delete the AIR and EGR codes still.

I ran open headers with the front O2's in for about a week, including a 60 mile drive at 80mph the whole way.

A) I think I went partially deaf.
B) Terrible gas mileage. Also- when driving at highway speeds for more than a few minutes, the engine would start bucking. I'm thinking that there was something going on with the O2's that was sucking air back in or something, and totally confusing the computer.

Just get the y-pipe on as soon as you can- you're not likely to see any damage.

4 miles...it doesn't matter either way. I drove 30 miles open with O2's out for the reasons SSpdDmon mentioned.

I did it and loved it open headers + WOT = C6R @ WOT. I have never heard anything so good. Yet i had the O2 sensors plugged in so by the end of the day the car ran like ****. But i loved it and would do it again, but i am going to buy 2 12" pipes to attach to the collectors to prevent the O2s from sucking in open air.
