LS6 intake vs. FAST LSX

LS6 intake vs. FAST LSX
I have a ported LS6 throttle body and LS6 intake and I'm considering the FAST 90mm setup or possibly the 78mm but I haven't been able to find and good comparisons between what I have and the FAST versions, basically I'm trying to figure out if it's worth $2000 bucks or if I would gain better using that money somwhere else.

90mm is an improvement over the LS6, typical estimate of 15rwhp gain. Now, a 90mm LSX/Nick Williams 90mm TB combo is nowhere near $2000.
It's up to you if you want to spend about a grand on this setup.

i too was wondering if i should go with a fast intake/bigger throttle. . . in hot rod magazine (Jan 2006) in the article "Bolt-on LS1 Muscle: 5 Steps to 530 HP" read, "According to FAST, in just intake-to-intake comparisons, its LSX manifold is worth at least 20 Hp over a stock LS1 intake. Comp saw over 30 hp by combining the LSX intake with a larger throttle-body and Maf Meter." The test was done on a 99' Camaro hence no ls6 intake. I believe if you are runnin a bigger cam then a Fast intake is better than an ls6 by maybe 20 hp. And if you are going with this set-up, don't get a 78m, go with a 90/90 setup. Makes more sense if your gonna upgrade to a FAST, you should up the ante a bit with the openings. I also heard that the FAST throttle bodies are nothing but problems and a Nick Williams 90m throttle body is much better . . . . as to the question, "is it worth it?", for the longest time i was sayin to myself, "its an 02 ws6 ls1, keep it stock, its already bad ***", but then i said, "f*ck it!!!!, you only get to live once and, . . . its an LS1 DAMMIT!!!!!"

i switched from the ls6 ported tb combo to a
fast 90 with the 90 nw tb
this was the only thing i changed and on the dyno i gained
27rwhp and 14rwtq over the ls6 ported tb combo
i thought that was ok for the money spent
just because i'm staying n/a with the car and every little bit adds up..

In the stickeys there's a comparison of several intake manifolds. The point that stood out most to me is when the author states that he believes a lot of the power gained by using the 90 mm FAST intake when compared to the LS6 intake was due to the larger inlet opening. Seems to me that if the LS6 inlet were opened to say 81 or 82mm coupled to an 80mm throttle body could be a good power adder for even less money. I have opened my Weiand (similar to LS6 manifold) to 80mm & it looks like up to around 82mm is doable on the intake manifold. Spent around $160.00 for a used ported TB & did the manifold myself. Don't have a dyno comparison, but, for me it was the way to go. Oh, did the MAF ends too.

just to add some info to my earlier post..
the gains i saw were on my 383 motor
the cam i have is a 611/619 242/250 114 through kooks 1 7/8 with some old absolute speed stage 2 heads
the only thing i changed at the time of the dyno was the intake/tb setup
