^This idea has my vote.^ Driving 5 hours with open headers is a little much. If you do decide to attempt it then remove your o2 sensors, put some extensions on the headers, and get some earplugs because if you don't you'll probably have one hell of a headache after 5 hours.

I did that once, i took off my whole exhaust system cause i wanted to see what my car would sound like open headers. **** i had a smile from ear to ear, and i think at one point i woke up the dead. I had stares from anything that lived, drove to my friends house and he heard me from a couple blocks away and i was actually under 2000 rpms and stuck behind some cars. Would i do it again **** yeah!!! But i would get some 12" pipes to let the O2 from flipping out like it did that day. Car ran fine for half the day then couldn't hold its idle all night. Is there a way i can run it open headers without getting 12" pipes, like if im going to the muffler shop to get them done?

Thanks for all the replys guys. The only reason I woldn't take the x pipe off in san antonio is because I dont think itll fit in my car on the way back with another person in the car. I dont know if itd fit with just me in it. Looks like if Im gonna do it Ill probably remove the front O2s before I go if my car will still run like that?

Thanks again,
Lane

I have my exhaust cutout open, would that eventually lead to o2 sensor failure?

nokeman

open headers are much louder than cutout. It's kinda like standing to the side of the speakers at a rock concert, compared to standing directly in front of them.
