Default Throttle Body

How much can you expect to gain out of an either ported or aftermarket TB? Would an underdrive pulley or electric water pump be worth more? Just wondering because they are all around the same price. Or would you guys just say don't waste $400 +/- on a 15 horse gain? Let me know what you think. FYI: cammin' in two weeks!!!

Rule of thumb for a TB is .1 off your ET in the 1/4. IMO, if you're going with a cam, you need the little mods to get better gains for the bigger ones. I wouldn't waste my time on the elec water pump, but you definetely need the pulley and the TB.

That electric water pump would be the last thing that I would put on before it became a strip only car. It would only help a tad with parasitic loss, and allow you to have it running sitting still in the staging lanes....I would think that is the only real benefit that you are going to see out of one. Definitely go with the TB and UD pulley. better modification imo.

An EWP is a crapshoot as yo whether you will gain power or not. I've seen many dyno's where 1rwhp or even none was gained with it's addition. I say buy an ASP pulley and port your own TB. There are many good writeups on this site and if attention to detail is used it will look as good as any you can buy.

You can always get a ported stock TB for between $75-150. No need for an expensive aftermarket TB.

I have a Bo White ported TB I will sale ya. I am stepping up to a 90mm NW.
If you are getting a cam I would suggest all the supporting mods like TB, pulley, LT's, New air lid etc.

What about a Ported TB and a MAF sensor? Just get the whole intake opened up! New Era Performance will port the TB for $75 and they have the Pro-M MAF sensors on sale for $219. Would this be a good investment for under $300? Again, let me know what you guys think, if you think I should go a different route let me know!

I ported and polished my on throttle body, took me a couple of hours. I also had the thunder racing alum. maf ends, to me I didn't think the maf ends are worth the money.

Stay away from the MAF. It will cause more trouble then anything. The stock MAF is capable of handling up to 500 rwhp.

Stick with the stock MAF. I do have an 85mm LS6 MAF though, but only because my stocker died at 10k miles and I plan on going with a F90 in the future. Messing with the MAF will only cause problems.

Paid Bo White $65 for mine.. made a nice throttle difference, said avg ~6whp gain from stock to ported on stock car. BW isn't porting anymore, but other sponsors are.

Definately go ported and save the money.

I combination of small things is usually how you make the best power, MAF and TB should be able to free something up and i would just suggest getting a porting your TB and not getting a aftermarket one

I got my TB ported by New Era Performance. They did a fantastic job - it's ported, polished and shiny like a mirror. All that for $80 shipped to your door. Very fast turn-around time.
