Oil sender.. where do i tap into?
Oil sender.. where do i tap into? trying to install an autometer electric oil pressure and oil temp gauge. where do i tap into for the oil source for pressure and the other for temp?
tried searching for about 2 hours now.. on here and google and im getting nothing reguarding LS1 engines..

You can tap into the fitting above the oil filter for both,
to install sending units, unless you're trying to use the
stock sensor outputs to the pcm, in which case I have no idea.

crap... i dont think i want to drill into that.. so where is the place on back of the block?
It's really easy to remove and do. In reality probably easier then putting a
'T' behind the intake.

I drilled and tapped the oil diverter plate above the oil filter and it came out pretty good. It's really easy to do, just remove the two 10mm bolts holding the plate, drill a hole at the top (21/64" drill bit) and use a 1/8" 27 NPT fine thread tap. Then, just screw the sending unit in there and you're done. Be sure to clean out all the aluminum shavings after you're done drilling and taping the threads.
is there any clearance issue with the sending when going to aftermarket long tubes. i also bought an autometer electric gauge and i also would like to keep my stock sending unit also. i also ordered pacesetters longtubes.

When you tap the fixture be sure not to tap any deeper than 6 to 7 full threads from the top of the tap. Pipe taps are tapered and if you tap it too deep the threads won't seal (it will leak).
