Default True Duals... How streetable?

I live in Virginia and our law requires that the exhaust goes to the end of the car. I have no sniff test, and im pretty sure that my backwoods state inspection station wont say anything about it (especially if I dont say a word about it). How bad are the cops at pullin people over for this stuff? A cammed up no cat long tubed ls1 aint a quiet thing. When its all resonating under the car i can imagine that you can hear it for miles.

I drive my car everyday. I LOVE how free flowing these systems are, but i just wonder how much trouble i'll run into if get it. How about the fumes on long trips?

If you are gonna run true duals with strict laws you are going to get some ****, just keep a look out. Hell most of the cops i pass by look but dont say anything, some hate it though. The fumes arent bad....you get use to them, lol. I love it though.

I have long tubes with true duals with an x-pipe and 12 inch dynomax bullets, for now I am stock cam and heads, I only have bolt ons. Inside the car is alot louder than stock, quite a bit louder than my cat-back I had. Out side, anything above 3K rpm is almost defining, espically when youve got the pedal matted. As for fumes, the only time I have a prob is when I let it sit and idle and warm up on a cold morn, just because it sits in one spot for a while, other than that, not a prob.

Just go over axle and be done with it. And it can be done 3" all the way.

well it will be much quieter if the pipes exit out the back. Mine are dumped underneath the car, and it is pretty loud. Fumes are only noticable on cold starts and just sitting in traffic. At highway speeds, there are no fumes noticeable. Mine aren't too bad noise-wise when cruising, and could be continued over the axle if i took em down to 2.5 inch instead of 3 inch. Accleration, even normal, is where the noise is noticeable, and at WOT it is like angelic music!

They are loud. I have an F14 cam, LTs, no cats, and tsp duals dumped.

I have cats/tips sitting in my living room waiting to be installed and ran out the back. I like to be able to hear the person in the passenger seat other than when they are screaming sometimes yaknow? It sounds awesome, definatly better than any ls1 f-body i've heard, but it gets VERY old. Mine resonates SO bad at 1900 rpms, i drive around it. With the 4.11's, this is about 60mph in 6th gear.

**** falls off my walls inside my house when it fires up outside, i'm sure it does the same to my poor neighbors house too. It sounds so mean that all these cocky mustang gt drivers that i love to smack down so much suddenly become non-cocky, thus robbing me of my good time

Other than that, they kick ***!

Interesting...I havent seen anyone with a true dual set-up that went to the rear of the car. Does anyone make a kit? See, the fact that it dumped under the car was my only concern. If i didnt have to drive it everyday then i wouldnt care. But since i live in cop alley i dont need to be driving a "ticket even at idle" machine.

I'm running 3" catted duals reduced to 2.5" over the axle with Magnaflow 4" muffs hung at the bumper. My setup sounds very deep and refined, tame at idle and opens nicely at WOT. I had mine custom built out of stainless ($$) but it sounds like no other LS1 I've heard and the gains were impressive. Duals can be very streetable just watch those clearances if you're lowered.

you can get the kit from lane on this board. He will supply all the pipes to make it all the way out the back. thats what I went with because the rear fascia has the places where the tips are supposed to be so I just think it looks better.

True duels and L/t headers, your gonna love it have the same setup, just take it and have a custom one done, or you can buy a setup. Mine go over the axle to the rear its a 2.5 pipe from the headers back.

The speed inc set up is spensive. I was hopin for a little less $ in it. There isnt anything crazy that a muffler shop would have to do to make a TD set up, is there? Is an H pipe sufficient?

no they just make their own setup under the car with pipes nothing crazy just make sure you get headers first then the custom td's, are sure you want h-pipe?

if you have an h-pipe... you're leaving power on the table... a prefabbed x-pipe that you can order shouldn't be that expensive... so get one and take it with you if you want the muffler shop bill to be lower

Is it hard for the guys at the muffler shops to make a TD set up? There isnt any over the axle clearance issues?

I have that system coming off my Pacesetters with no cats. I let my girlfriend drive my car, with me following behind in hers. My conclusion was it is not loud at all to cars around it. It is actually louder inside and directly around it than it is to the outside world. My turndowns are facing down though which may affect that.
