Default problems to expect after header install

I am getting ready to yank the stock exhaust off of my 1998 t/a, and install pacesetter longtubes and a tsp true dual setup, dumping it before the axle. I also would like to remove my AIR and EGR. I was just wanting to know what problems I should expect to run into after the install. I seem to be reading about alot of people who's car runs very poorly after a header install. Also, what all does it involve to remove the EGR system?? and will this affect the way the car runs?? thanks in advance!!

you will be fine if you get it tuned and have the air and egr deleted. Do delete your rear o2 sensors.

Can someplace like auto zone delete the air, egr and o2's?
Is it better to delete the o2's or to get after market extended one's?

oh yeah i forgot to ask where you are located, you need to check your local emmisions laws, i live in florida where pretty much anything goes. no auto zone cant do it, you need someone with ls1 edit, hp tuners, or even some of those innexpensive portable tuners can do it i believe. im pretty sure its better to delete them, they are hard to tune, expecially the less pipe you have after them

Buy the O2 sims to take care of the rear O2's. If you simply remove the EGR and AIR system without deleting the codes, the SES light will stay on. The car will run rich after the install, but will learn and adapt after several complete drive cycles. The EGR is very straightforward to remove, but you will need to plug the intake if you have the original intake.

Here's a list of possible problems you may run into:

* Exhaust banging into floorboard
* Exhaust leak due to poor sealing
* Extreme happiness leading to even more modding

Take your time and do it right.

Dont waste your money on 02 sims unless you just have to(have to being you have no way to have your computer modified by edit/tuners) not only can that keep the MIL off you can have your A/F ratio optimized for the freer flowing exhaust,and you still would have to deal with the AIR/EGR codes. The only other "problems" you might incounter is making sure the exhaust set up doesn't bang the floorpan etc.

hey, thanks guys! I am from Peoria, Illinois, and as far as emissions go, i dont think i would get hasseled too much for it, but as far as noise, there is a pretty good chance that i will get some attention from the cops. I'm not really sure how loud TD's are in person, I have never heard them. Also, how loud will it be in the cabin with the turn downs, and will fumes be really bad? thanks!
