Default Longtube and ORY decision..

I have been waiting to order my longtubes and ORY for about 3 weeks now while I accumulated information and opinions about the different cheaper setups. I'm definetely getting either Pacesetter or Hedman LTs. Now I know alot of people are going to say to get Pacesetter already, but here is my question. If I get Pacesetter, what ORY should I get (Pacesetter or TexasSpeed)? What ORY do i get if I get Hedmans? Do the Pacesetters/Hedmanscome with the installation kit? I plan on tuning out the rear O2s with LS1edit.

Ok, I'll start. Get the Pacesetters and either ORY. I think most feel the TSP Y is better but doesn't matter to me. Just get a bumpstop hanger from Thunder Racing to keep the Y from hitting the floor. None of the headers come with install kits. I know the PS come with the paper junk gaskets so get some new GM ones. Tune out the rear O2's and take off the air and egr if not already. PS also supplies wire to make your own front O2 extensions but just get the premade ones and forget it. Speed Inc. is one place that sells everything needed to make it smooth.

so an aftermarket ORY will hit the floor of the car?

i just got one installed, along with a loudmouth, and i notice that when the car is under load, i hear something hitting the car.

i thought it might be the 11" ZR1's but i only started hearing this noise after the exhaust was installed

Ive heard good and bad things about both the pacesetters and TSP ORY pipe personally I think its all a matter of how its installed. I know thunderracings makes a bump stop to keep it from hitting

I've got Pacesetter LT's and OR-Y on mine....It fits relatively well (everything lines up)...But you may have to trim off some of the y-pipe for everything to slip on a lil easier....Only other suggestion I would have, is to use band clamps, as opposed to u-bolts.

Usually the Y will hit the floor. That's why the factory Y has the nasty crimp in the pipe to keep it from hitting. Most likely what you are hearing. Like the other guy said use bandclamps instead of the u-bolt clamps. Your 11's could be rubbing but, if they are the 50mm offset you should be ok unless you slammed it.

I'd have a custom Y made using a Flowmaster Merge Collector to fit the pacesetters. It will be worth it over the TSP or PS Y's.

Get the Hedman Y-pipe if you're going with their headers. Not many people have them, but they do seem to be a quality setup that fits nicely. I'd also recommend the bump-stop to keep them from banging.

When I get my exhuast package, it'll probably be the entire Hedman system (headers back). For the price (700 or so) I think its worth it.

i spent months deciding what y to get and in the end i realized the only thing i was doing was trying to figure out what i wanted to trade off and what i didnt. at that point i decided to order the mufflex y pipe with the flowmaster maerge and forget it. and i must say it is a very nice peice of pipe. shame its not stainless.

i had the exhaust shop that put my headers on fabricate a ORY, they did the header install and that for 200$ saved me time and that's about what a ORY cost anyway....somethin to think about.
