Default What headers should i buy?

Guys I have been wondering which headers to buy. Looking at Pacesetters or QTPS HVAC. I know that there is big diffenrence in price. Is it worth the price difference and the performance gain? Also do I need to put cats back on or leave them off? I am going to put cam in soon maybe heads too.

putting cats on is a matter of your decision and the state you live in, if you are worried about emisions then yes, if your state dosen't have them then don't worry about it

as for a difference in the headers, yes there is a huge difference, Pacesetters= awesome price and a great headers ( for the price) and install very easy QTP = great headers, top pof the line and very much worth the money, but for the average guy maybe a little over the top.
Alot of people including myself run the pasetters, they arer truely a great deal for the buck clean, good welds and sooooo easy to install

Just stay away from SLPs if your worried about ground clearance. They hang pretty low and i have scraped a good amount of times on them.

QTP HVMC are definately worth getting over Pacesetter. They will make more power up top and across the board. They are stainless so you dont need to buy a new set of headers every year or so. The quality of the header is just better. I dont know why since the price drop why anyone would get anthing else but the QTP HVMC header. But thats just me.

The Ti-Tech coated Edelbrocks have been getting good press around here lately. Apparently the fully welded ones are top notch and fit really well. Heard great things about there y-pipe as well. Pricing seems to be good also and the kit comes with gaskets, O2 extensions....supposedly everything you need to install them.

Just save some money & get the coated Pacesetters. They make great power & will last longer than the year or two comment I saw above. I just dont think its worth the money unless you live on a coast or up north with lots of sand & salt. Spend the extra money on your cam.

My Hooker headers still look new after a year. No clearance issues and no problems to report.

DO NOT USE THE GASKETS THAT COME WITH IT. I put edelbrocks on my truck, and one of the gaskets blew out the second i started the truck, and since it was my only way of transportaion at the time, i was stuck driving a truck that had a nasty exhaust leak, no joke, when i reved the enigne, a little flame shot out between the header/head. Use the steel gaskets, trust me, do it right the first time.

It's more of a looks thing. The QTP's should not rust of a LONG time. They are probably the best header for your car. As for power, they will be similar. The QTP's may make a TINY bit more. The small gains are from the high velocity merge collector. The benefit from the QTP's should be low and mid range power, without MUCH difference at peak. I think the pacesetters are a great header and cheap too. The welds are real nice and they are supposed to go in easily. There is no question that the QTP's are the best, but are they worth twice the $$? I obviously didn't think so, and that's why my pacesetters will be showing up on my doorstep tomorrow.

Ordered Pacesetter's on monday. is x2 the price worth the small hp gain? Maybe if all you're ever going to do is headers, but for the price difference I'm getting a dry nitrous kit from HSW

The merge collectors gain more than a tiny bit. It can range from 5hp more to 25hp depend on the car. Most see 10-15 more hp gains. When i check out the dyno section i see pacesetters only gain 20 whp. QTPs 25-40 hp. Just recently 25hp on a mustang dyno and the car is a A4. So the gains are there and in my opinion worth the extra money for the 10-15 hp.

Definately. I've seen 10whp gains also. I'm not trying to discredit your valid point, just to show that:

1. Pacesetter + TSP ORY ($379 + $121 as combo) = $500.
2. QTP + ORY (from QTP's site $799 + $335) = $1134

If you have the cash, and if headers is the only mod you'll ever do, 10whp is a good gain. Though it does vary car to car, making the difference range from 5whp to 15whp, the $634 difference buys me a lot more mods, including nitrous kit with accessories, or a cam and other things to go with it, (either bringing my car over 400whp easily) which give much more performance per dollar than spending that $634 on 10whp.

Again, its all in what you're going to do.

The catalytic converter requirement is FEDERAL, not state. Same fine everywhere for running without one.
