Default Battery bracket

Anyone know where to get one? The plastic tray broke so my battery is kinda wiggly at the moment. Thanks.

My buddy just replaced his - the battery "tray" is actually the top of the coolant overflow tank. Had to special order his from the dealership, said it wasn't too expensive. We changed it out in a couple minutes.

True but I don't want to run the risk of it breaking again since it's plastic. Any stronger versions out there?

Try Year One (sponsor), they make a battery strap that is specific for the fbody. It's only about $16 bucks, I have one and it works great.

Part number is BHFBLK

Perfect, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.

In case anyone wants to see what it looks like, here it is:

My darn battery tray lip broke off in the front too. In addition, I kept cranking down on the hold down bolt so much that it stripped.

Fortunately the dealer had some bolts in stock. As for a new battery tray, I didn't want to replace the whole coolant reservoir and then have the same cheap lip break off again, so I bought the Year One battery strap.

Works great so far. Holds the battery down nice and snug. Highly recommended the next time you change out your battery.

Was the replacement "tray" from the dealership a whole lot more than $16 for the "Year One" version? My bracket "tray" broke at the front as well. Just trying to decide which way to go. Mine must have been broken for some time as the battery must have been moving around and had a small leak. There is some corrosion on the overflow tube.

If I recall correctly, the new tray/reservoir is about $45. Might be cheaper through gm parts direct, but either way it's still more than the year 1 part.

I'd definitely go for the yr 1 setup.

I know this is old, but I'm resurrecting it from the dead to ask a question. ANYONE with an Optima Red Top using this (Year One) hold down bracket?? Did it work/hold with NO problems (i.e.; any need to mod/bend/pad/shim the thing to fit) with the Red Top??? Thanks in advance.

It should work with no problem, won't need to tighten it down too much since the bolt is long. I'm getting the Optima red top soon again but from my past experience with it, it wasn't that much higher than the stock battery.

Your metal battery bracket broke or the stock plastic one?

Thanks Roarin_8. I ordered it today. I figure by the time I buy bar stock ($6.00-$8.00 at Lowes/H.D.) and a vice to properly bend/shape it (?$$), I'm ahead of the game with the Year One piece.
