Default Header size?

I know long tube headers are a must for our cars, but I didnt realize they came in different sizes like 1 3/4 and 1 7/8. Would 1 7/8 be too much for a soon to be modded car?

1 7/8 is overkill for just some bolt-ons

when you start to do cam/head work then go for the 1 7/8

just so you know this would be a question for the "external engine" section

Like camaro extra said but I personally think 1 7/8 primaries are more suited to a larger cube engine than just bolt ons. On the other hand if you plan on getting the engine stroked sometime you can go with the bigger primaries, you will lose a little on the bottom end until you do but save a little money.
