So you're coming out with a tip conversion for the F-Body Magnaflow catback with bends already and tips pre-welded. Can you shed any more details? Approx. time available and price maybe? I think everyone on this forum who has a Magnaflow catback would be interested in that and you would definintely have a hold on the F-Body catback market.

Yeah the biggest hang up I had with the Magnaflow exhaust on Camaros was the twin Bazooka look with the tips. If you offered it with those quad tips I would be in.

The Magnaflow catback owns, stainless, good gains, awesome price. I bought it for that reason, but at the expense of really nice tips. Good on Camaros I guess, but on the TA, they don't fill the bumper well, come out far enough, or have enough of a "slash" to them. Does Bad30th have what could considered to be the prototype for the conversion?

I was absoulutely in love with my GMMG until I got LT's and got this nasty rasp, even with the cats. I'm really interested in maybe switching to a Magnaflow system, except I cannot stand the look of the tips as well. I love the looks of single slash cut tips, but not that large; maybe 2-3/4" at most would look sweet (like my GMMG).

Rob's car was entirely a one off system ... more an experiment in design.

A protoype will be made for engineering next month.

Haha, yes, that would be the world's loudest P1SC ATI Procharger. (Well, at least the loudest one I've ever heard). I love it.

Cheers,

Update:

All MagnaFlow parts are avaialbe through our dealer network. Please check with site sponsors.

MagnaFlow Race / Performance Metallic cats
The NEW MagnaFlow Race / Performance Metallic cats should be etremely competitively priced. I would bet that retail price mark-up should make these the best priced highest flowing metallic on the market.

Quad-Tip Cat-back
The NEW MagnaFlow Quad tip cat-back will be in development next month. Pricing will be posted shortly afterward.

Can we expect that same appearance on the tips?

Yes ... and probably a dual 3.5" option as well. Without the Fascia of the Trans Am , the dual 4" looks a big in my eyes.

[QUOTE=oxidizr]Based upon the response from this thread MagnaFlow will be looking into offering a tip upgrade and a quad outlet version of the system. I'll post as more information becomes available.

That is a great idea. That is one ofthe reasons, I have not purchased the magnaflow yet. The long single outlet tubes don't look good and remind me of a 5.0L LX setup.

The new system looks great!

Will the higher flowing muffler also be available?

To follow up to this, I am getting LOTS of compliments on the car's sound. A guy at the gas station, couple of cars at stop lights... I got on it pretty good in front of my work Friday morning and it was funny watching everyone's heads turn to look (they all know me, heh).

Muffler specs will be released when the production version comes to full gestation.

We may entertain the idea of a production high flow Y-pipe as well.

So the new Cat-back will use a different muffler?

POSSIBLY ...

The only reason this muffler was considered was the flow demands of Rob's car. He's workign with a double power adder (P1SC Procharger and Nitrous) with 600 rwhp on tap.

Our standard muffler works fine for most applcaitions (up to ~ 450 rwhp*)

I went with CARB legal coated JBA shorties to retain as much emissions compliance as possible (still have AIR and EGR too !). My stock Y-pipe sucked, rattling pass side cat blowing pieces out into the exhaust/muffler, flat Y section on driver side... Horribly restrictive muffler and a narrow 2.5" Y-collector. I needed major help !

Rich hand fabbed up a dual 2.5" to 3" mandrel-bent stainless Y-pipe with a flex joint on the pass side, used his new hi-flow Magnaflow cats in the stock locations, hand TIG welded the entire thing, took it over the axle into a high-flow (higher flow than their standard Magnaflow fbody muffler) Magnaflow stainless muffler and out the back with some kickass looking dual tips.

I took some pics of the install (some images are links to limit bandwidth in this post)...

EDIT : VIDEO IS LOCATED HERE !!

He welded in an extra bung for my LC-1 wideband, and welded in a flexible link to keep the Y-pipe from banging the floorboard :

Hi-flow Magnaflow cat :

Over the axle into the new Magnaflow stainless muffler :

I am frikkin' overjoyed with the new setup, it sounds VERY refined and much more exotic. Nice low tone, no rasp, no drone on the highway even with the windows rolled up (I was able to have a conversation on my cell phone without any problem). Not obnoxiously loud, nice purr at cruise but loud enough to sound mean when you step into it.

PM Oxidizr if you want more info on this kickass exhaust setup !

Thanks again Rich, you RULE !!

Cheers,
Rob (Bad30th)
Does Rich actually work for Magnaflow or he is a distributor of their stuff???

I'd love to get a direct swap for the tips.

Just tell me when and who to pay.

I am the Engineering Director and manage all aspect of new product line development.

All of the above mentioned parts would become parts available from any MagnaFlow distributor.

More or less this was an excersise to see what could be done.
