Question Kooks ORY->catback install issues...

I'll start out by saying if any of my description below doesn't make sense, let me know and I can go snap some pics in the garage for clarification...

2002 SS, SLP center exhaust...

Installed 1.75" kooks headers yesterday, had hell getting the pipe that runs between the stock y and the bend that runs over the axle off, so we left it at that. Went back out this morning expecting to wrap up the install in an hour or so (should have known that expectation would lead to frustration).

Once I finally got that pipe disconnected at the bend over the axle, I started trying to fit everything together. Those that have the kooks and the ORY will know that there are 3 band clamps - one where each collector hits ORY and one on the driver side that holds the 2 pieces of the ORY together. At this time everything is loose, but I notice something seems off... The L-shaped bracket on the passenger side is a good 1.5" from being able to mount up. It doesn't matter how you pull the Y, there really is no way to get that bracket lined up.

Looking past that problem, I can see a couple of other issues. The driver side of the ypipe sits against the floor and the brake lines (even with everything loose). And, the end of the y-pipe that should connect to the intermediate pipe I pulled this morning sits up against the floor almost next to the driveshaft. This is making it impossible to get that intermediate pipe connected to both the ORY and the bend over the muffler...

Anyone else have these kind of fitment issues? Any ideas/advice on adjustments any of you had to make during the install? Any known issues bolting up the LTs and ORY to the center SLP exhaust?

I went with the kooks because the fitment was supposed to be so great... As it stands now, unless my buddy and I are completely overlooking some way to adjust, I am going to need some major heating/bending work done by a shop to get this even remotely close to fitting...

Thanks for the help.

you may have to take out or just take loose the hangers for the tailpipes where it will slide back some.

That won't really help as far as getting it all to go together...

For the pipe between the Y and the axle to fit, the end of the Y has to change angles by coming down and towards the center of the car (if that makes any sense). Without that happening the bend on the intermediate pipe isn't correct.

Major issue is really that the Y doesn't seem to fit correctly. I would think that it sits too high considering it is against the floor pan with everything loose...
