How does a F.A.S.T. intake compare with...?

Default How does a F.A.S.T. intake compare with...?

How does the fast 90mm intake compare with a weiand intake. Those are going for pretty cheap and I was wondering if thats an indication of quality.

The Weiand is an aluminum version of the LS6 intake. I went from the Weiand to the FAST 90 setup when TTP did my cam.

The Weiland is known to heat soak. Most people go with the Weiland for direct port...go with the FAST.

Yea im thinking about getting the Weiand for some performance over my LS1 and the bling factor. However the power is compareable to the ls6 as stated. It does heat soak a little but not real noticeable, i guess at like 450 hp you lose 3ish hp from heatsoak. Also the weiand can be ported out for better flow to come close to fast, not sure now much more gain o nthis but i know it can be ported, also if your running nitrous it is a stronger intake and would hold a backfire better and for direct port you can sort of "build into" the intake with its thick walls. The polished version is blinging, for the newer lower price im gunna pick one up.

Thats kinda what im thinking. I mean, a fast is $800. If a weiand is close to it in hp, than I think it would be worth it, I mean, its almost half price. If I am wrong than feel free to correct me.

The Weiand is close to the LS6 in hp gains, However you can get the Weiand ported if youd like and it will flow better, not sure how much better but it will net more power.

It'll answer all your questions. Personally I'd go LS6 and ported TB or maybe one of the new LS6 90mm TB setups. FAST does outperform it, but not by much.

I would think that the Weiand would tend to heat soak over composite material.

Why not think about the carb style setup? With an elbow and a TB, you are not looking at a whole lot of diffenrence in price, only real adder is that you have to go to a different fuel rail.. which is an excuse to upgrade the fuel system a little anyways, so it's really not a loss. After looking at the gains from that setup over a ls6, vs the fast, I'll be goign carb style, plus it eliminates the whole #7 getting too much air as well, and that's a plus for pretty any performance build.
