Don't get me wrong, I love the quality... but read this post:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/464287-qtp-headders-installed-info-others.html

Saying there are no fitment issues whatsoever with any after market part on a car is like saying Mac's never Crash

All cars are different.

But the quality is heads and tails over the pasesetters. I’ve had both now. (Pasesetters on my 82 Trans am, i put em on brand new). I was leery... but once i picked up a header after the UPS guy dropped em off and inspected it with my own eyes, all my worries went out the window. They are a NICE header set. Worth the money? After having a set of both, I'd say yes, so far... though I need to finish the exhaust this week yet.

Does your 01 WS6 deserve the cheapest headers you can put on? Mine didn't it hurt pay'in the bill knowing the alternatives, but like i said.... pick em up and look at them. compare. That will solve that for ya.

I live in Minnesota though. My pasesetters rusted even with little rain... not being drivin in the winter. coated ones would probably work out for you very well. i wouldn't get them without coating them.

Pacesetters fit like a glove. I can't speak for QTP's but the quality of the pacesetters was awesome esp considering the price. Considering I got my headers, Jet HOT Y-Pipe(used) and Catback(Hooker) for less than a set of QTP's, Pacesetters are the logical choice. If I had had the money I would have gone QTP's, but I didn't so horsepower to dollar ratio is important for me

Alright I am starting to lean towards the Pacesetters again. I though the difference in power was closer to about 10hp not 2hp If I get the pacesetters they will be coated.
Next question what kind of difference does the Y pipe make. I am thinking about the TSP Y but one of my friends is talking about the Mufflex Y. The mufflex just seems to be a bit of overkill. What do you guys use?

I thought it might be QTP making them sound better than they are. Thats why I asked

Do the Y pipes really not make a difference?

get what you can afford, nothing wrong with the coated pacesetters, great bang for the buck. yeah look for the best deal on an ory or fab one yourself.

there all the same.
id look at the cheapest ones and look at pics of them. pick the one that seems to have the smallest bends(less sharp angled bends)
but no there all the same.

Once again PEAK #'s are not everything, QTP's and KOOKs will make more power under the curve than a set of Pacesetters.

don't buy QTP's for extra power, buy them for their quality and the fact that they wont rust out. My QTP's have just a wee bit of surface rust after 1 year, but i think i will probably scrub that off next time i get under the car...

Buy QTP HVMC's for extra power, better quality and the fact that they will be your first and last LT purchase.

i think u miss under stood.
a aftermarket OR-Y pipe will give u good gains over a STOCK Y-pipe with cats(maybe 5+ ish HP)
but all the aftermarket ones are the same. same flow/power etc.

The Mufflex or QTP Y-pipe is superior in flow to many other Y-pipes. A free flowing Y-merge collector is crucial.

There is so much more then just the price of the 2 headers. Just in the collector QTP will out power the Pacesetters. Some guys range 5-10 and i have seen 15-18hp gain over Jethot/pacesetter. And its just not peak.

But if you are on a budget then get the pacesetter, or wait and save. Because you will buy the QTP down the road. As many have already said, it will be the last header you will buy for you car.

Yeah starting to lean back towards the QTP headers and QTP ORY I know it will break the bank but I think it will be the best choice in the long run.

I would go QTP if possible, but Pacesetters are great bang for buck headers!

I just ordered some QTP headers and Y pipe. I will be posting any gains over my current hooker headers + ory pipe setup within the next 2 weeks.

I know we keep missing each other for you to check out my exhaust and how it sounds. One of these days, right!? lol I'm happy with my coated Pacesetters and ORY. $530 shipped from Speed Inc. Plus Pacesetter is local here in AZ. I had a weld issue originally and they took care of me right away no questions asked. Good customer service.
