Default Exhaust sounds like sheeeetttt!!!

Just did a big H/C swap adn many boltons, which included LT's and 3"ORY. I already had teh TSP Rumbler catback exhaust on my car. Well it sounds bad as hell at idle and WOT, but anything in between it "slaps" and pretty much sounds like ****. Did this happen to anyone else? Any recommends?????????

When you say "slap" do you mean "blats it's *** off" if you hit the gas under a load? It "blats" the more you lug the gear? If so that's called *rasp*, and I'd expect it form a set-up like yours. That's just the way it goes.

You only way to rid that is to get a quieter muffler like a Corsa or SLP DD.
That's why I left my DD in place after I did the cam, headers and off-raod y. If you had cats it would remedy the issue, but that would choke the cam.

My SLP sounds really good, and gets beastly at wide open throttle. It still has a mature sound to it. I guy told me just yesterday that he hasn't heard an exhaust note like that since 1972!

You could throw some cats in there and put a Borla XR-1 in the I-pipe. We just put the hooker longtubes w/ o/r y-pipe on a friends car with the dynomouth, and it's exactly as you've described it. The mid range has a very annoying rasp.

^^^ I'm with him! ^^^

Check the link to my exhaust setup in my sig, tons of pics, videos, and info on there. The problem is your catback. The TSP rumbler system is almost identical to an SLP Loudmouth.

LT's + ORY + Loudmouth = one of the most hated LS1 sounds ever.

It must have been REALLY raspy before! Like I posted above, my friend has the same setup. Longtubes, o/r Y and dynomax bullet, and it's EXTREMELY raspy! IMO, you'll need more than a bullet muffler to calm the rasp.

Borla XR-1 in place of the resonator/muffler. Makes a bigger difference than you would think...

I think a true dual setup with some type of resonator/muffler will get rid of all the rasp. my stainless work 3" duals sounds nascar style. My former camaro's single/y-pipe hooker catback setup always had a little rasp until i put in cats.

Was that in regards to my post? I was talking about the dynomax bullet. There is a big difference between the Borla and dynomax.

Just TD that shyt. IMO, I think that I deleted most of the crappy notes from my exhaust by going down to a 2.5 flanged out the back setup.

The cause of rasp really isn't which catback or muffler you have. It's the y-pipe that causes the rasp. Some mufflers/catbacks cover it up better than others. The exhaust "slams" into each other at a certain rpm when in merges into the i-pipe. The only way to actually get rid of it (not cover it up) is to switch to a well designed y-merge collector (flowmaster y-merge for example) or switch to a true dual setup. My old setup (macs/ory/cutout) was the King Bastard of all rasp. Switching over to lt's/x-pipe/1 chamber flowmasters has eliminated any hint of the crappy sounds I used to have.

gonna have to disagree. i have the flowmaster merge on my lt, ory, corsa and its prob one of the raspiest i ever heard next to a loudmouth.
