laugh at me

I got a slp thermostat from ws6store and it wouldnt fit in my 02 ls1 so I got another one thinking the first one was defective. but unfortunatly it also does not fit anyone know does it not fit the ls1 or am I just an idiot. I mean I thought I was smart enough to put this in but I guess not. any tips?

Did you get a new housing and everything? Because if you just got the t-stat, you may be able to put it in the old housing and make it work like that. What exactly wont fit?

that means you have the newer style water pump - buy the thermostat listed for the GTO...it'll work then - i went through the same exact thing with mine - i had no idea that there was a newer style water pump in there and ordered the wrong t-stat

Was your water pump replaced? Vinci sells a 170 for the new pumps if it looks like the 1st pic.

My stock thermo looks like the first picture and i am sure you got the second picture thermostat in the mail, my car has a newer water pump on it that i didn't know about either, get the one for an 03 vette or gto should be $20. I did the same thing works great now.

My water pump was replaced but the thermostat that I pulled out of it looks like the second one. The SLP thermo that I got also looks like the second one, but will not fit in the housing for the thermostat. So all I need to do is put a thermo from a vette or GTO in it and it will fit? Where can I get one.
