Yeah, I just did the torque strap today, and all I have to say "It's Great". It killed all the y-pipe banging, and it makes my launches feel stronger. I think the motor is alos making less noises than it use to, or it could all just be in my head..... I paid $12 and got two straps. Both are black with black hooks, can barely even see them. I could not find a place on the alt. bracket to get the hook on to, so I just fed the strap around the bolt, and used the hook kind've like an anchor. Best mod for the money, right after the $.50 skip shift.

Yup I did this a couple of years ago to keep my y pipe from hittin the driver's side floorboard. Also good because then more of that energy goes to the driveshaft since the motor does not tq over as bad.
I'm going to a solid one now, I'll take pics once I do it next week.

No its not a joke, a joke is $1200 headers that have to be patched with aluminium foil

Why have I never heard of this before! I know what trq straps are, but I never thought about using one to stop y-pipes from banging. Mine does it rarely, but for $10 I don't care how "ghetto" it looks, if it works, it's fine by me

i never could get the damn thing to stay on. i used a KEEPER ratchet tie-down p/n 05514. i tightened it down and the next day i was on the interstate when i heard something, and a guy pulled up next to me and told me i was dragging something under the car. needless to say, it was the strap. tore it to shreds. d'oh

I run POLY motor mounts and its one of the best mods I have done. They transmit almost zero vibration to the chassis and my motor is much more stabil. Before, My motor shook my whole car, now its like glass.

Like someone else posted earlier, I couldn't find a place to "hook" it onto on the alternator bracket, so I ended up looping it around the bracket and using the hook like an anchor.
Held up through an autocross over the last weekend, and has held up to a couple of hundred miles of spirited driving since I put it on last week. I still get some header pounding, but not nearly as much as before...

I couldn't find a place on the alternator bracket either. So I simply hooked the strap on top of the bold head in front. The strap hook is being pulled down and back. The bracket and bolt are on the bottom corner. So the hook as a chance to angle back without popping off the top of the bolt. I have made some hard passes with the strap like this. The strap works great, and has not loosened at all.
