Default Induction for an 2002 SS?

I have a brand new SS. I have the GMMG cat back so far and want to put a new induction system. After reading some things I had decided to go with the FIPK. I have read that system works good with the SS hood. I know the SS is not that good of a ram air. I also saw that there is a deal for the LS1 tech members thru MTI. The air box, K&N and the breather for 139.00. That is a great deal. Does anybody have any thoughts on the different set-ups? The FIPK runs about 299.00. I could also buy a bellows for the lid set up and it would be a lot cheaper than the FIPK but I would like to get the most HP. Any dyno info and experiences would be appreciated. thanks

HA! I may open up another can of worms on this, but I'll definitely tell you about a particular dyno experience with the MTI lid and K&N FIPK. A fellow member, Weatherguy, tested both induction setups on his 422 cid LS1. Quite a few others have also dynoed the FIPK, but it's always been done with the hood open. That's great, but we don't drive down the track with our hood open! The MTI lid did not lose any HP when the hood was shut, but the FIPK lost over 20 RWHP when the hood was shut! The lid will only pull air from the front of the airbox, but the FIPK will pull it from all over. That would translate to sucking in a LOT of hot, underhood air.
I would DEFINITELY take advantage of the MTI special currently taking place for LS1Tech members! It's an excellent deal.

Well your in California, unless you are willing to remove the MTI lid everytime smog comes due and replace with stock, I would go with the SLP GM factory unit installed on 335HP cars for 2002, it is smog legal.
