I bent two 1/2" breaker bars on mine. I didn't want to waste any more so I went to sears and got the biggest one they had, had to get the socket for it too because the largest sockets I have are 1/2". I believe the one I got is 3/4 and the bar must be an 1" thick. Still couldn't get it so I put a piece of rigid pipe over it like a 3' extenssion to get more torque and just yanked it hard and quick. It finally broke it loose. I think if I tried to go slow it might have even bent the new breaker bar too. They can be stuck on there good. Good luck.

Go with a High quality 1/2 braker bar and good 6 point socket and cheater bar and you should be able to bust it loose.

Heating the bolt will actuall make it expand, and tighten in the crank. What you would "want " to do is heat the crank up so it expands, and relieves the pressure on the bolt.
For example have you ever heard of the pulley in the oven trick. You put your underdrive pulley in the oven @ 210 or so for an hour, it expands the pulley and you can usually slip it right on the crank (didn't quite work for me). SAME CONCEPT.
If you heat that bolt up too much your going to have problems!!!
Just my thoughts!

His bolt broke off on the way out. Sucked the pulley on with a torque wrench, on the stock bolt, started backing it out and the torque wrench popped, like it was getting tighter. Then it just snapped off. We drilled and drilled and broke drill bits and easy outs. Finally (after i left), they started drilling bigger and bigger untill the threads of the bolt started to come apart.
If you've got a buddy at a machine shop, they might be able to help. Worst comes to worse, you take the motor out and bring that bitch somewhere.

I doubt an ARP bolt is going to break. Locktite must have been used when it was installed. GM uses locktite on the flatwasher part of the bolt head. Once the initial torque is overcome it's not bad after that. The rocker bolts work the same way with the locktite on the bolt head from the factory instead of on the threads themselves. Not a bad place to put the locktite when you think about it.
