Default Question to those who've replaced resonator with bullet on SLP loudmouth...

My new loudmouth system is pretty damned loud! I'm a bit concerned about the 'long arm of the law' around here. Although it sounds like a badass racecar, it makes me a bit paranoid to drive it so I was considering switching the resonator to a Dynomax bullet muffler to tame it a bit. WOT is just ungodly!

Here's my question:
On a scale of 1 to 10... 1 being stock, 10 being the loudmouth. Where would the bullet muffler drop the sound level to on a numeric scale?

Thanks but I have H/C and longtubes combined with it and it is just obsenely loud at WOT which I'd like to be able to do on the street once in a while without bringing as much attention to myself. It's bad enough that I'm a speeder. I like the sound. It's wicked, but I'd like to tone it down to a 7 or 8 on the noise scale by adding a small muffler in place of the resonator.

I don't know what the hell your "suck it" comment is supposed to mean. That's just weird.

no back pressure at all! I put a borla sportsman bullet muffler on, and the cats back on, it quieted it down to about a 6-7 i would say.

what's the part # for that sportsman bullet that you put on, and how does it fit in that tight space where the resonator was??

I think he means the Sportsman 'Race' muffler. It's an oval design, not a bullet style and available in a center in/out and offset designs.

My question is, they have two race mufflers. A Sportsman race muffler and a regular race muffler. They both look the same on the outside. What's the difference between the two? Which one is quieter/louder?

I don't think a bullet in place of the resonator will do much-maybe take some of the rasp out.
I've got a Borla XR-1 in place of the resonator and it's still fairly loud to me, and I have cats and no (aftermarket) headers. The Borla does give it a nicer tone, though.

How would you describe it? I wanted it loud but WOT is just sick the way it is now! By nicer tone, what do you mean? Did it make it deeper or just quieter? Mine is already pretty deep. Wouldn't want ti much deeper. How's WOT sound?

5" round , 3" in/out. Part number 40085. Kinda pricy. Hard to describe how it changed the sound, but there is definitely no "rasp" to it. It actually sounds pretty good to me. Just that with the 2.73s and the ST3500 I get more rpm on takeoff and the exhaust gets on my nerves in town occasionally. On the highway It's loud enough you know it's there, but it won't drown out conversation.
