Default Random tech cat back or Whisper cat back

Does anyone here have or know of how the fit and sound of either of these systems??? Does one flow better than the other??? Last question, how does the aluminized Random tech hold up against weather, should I not consider it and just get the stainless steal??? Any info you might have would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Dan

The R/T aluminized system is nice. Mine hasn't rusted yet, it's 3 yrs old and I live in salt infested Cleveland. One complaint; exhaust puffs out 90% of the driver side tailpipe, only 10% out of the passenger side. So the passenger side pipe tends to rust from non usage. I've had it with the stock system and now with my FLP's and ORP's. In either case it's a quiet idle exhaust but an absolute SCREAMER at WOT.

Haven't heard the whisper system. If I had to do it again I'd go for the Hooker catback.

I have the Whisper cat-back. It is a good flowing exhaust. With the FLP's and off-road pipes it is pretty loud. It fits great. If I had it to do over again I would get the SLP dual-dual. The Dynomax is a good exhaust just ditch those tips.

The reason I said Hooker is because guys with LT's and ORP's claim it's one of the few cat back's to get rid of drone AND rasp, common with the LT+ORP setup. So it depends on your long term plans IMHO. But you're right, rust on the Hooker could be a long term problem, but no worse than the aluminized R/T system. BTW, I'm going duals tomorrow and will be selling my R/T cheap if interested, give me a PM.

I love my R/T cat back. I have the old one with aluminized pipes and the stainless tips from the muffler on. It's deep and queit around town but screams at WOT. I recommend it!

Thanks guys!!! I am trying to be very selective with my (next) choice!!! As you can see I have a ATR cat back and it flows very well, but I really don't like that one tail pipe is bent and the other is strait!!! Also, it doesn't fit great. I have tried to reposition it, but it still clunck around!!! I want another system that will as free flowing, fits good, and has strait slash cuts. I think the Whisper system would be good??? I do like the way the Hooker looks, but I don't want it to rust!!! Anyone else with an opinion on this please dont hesitate to post a reply.

Thanks again,
Dan

I've go the R/T, I love the way it sounds, like everyone else says, nice and quiet untill you get on it! I don't have LT's or ORY yet so can't help you there. My only suggestion if you go with R/T would be to get some nice tips put on, I still have the R/T tips and it looks basically like a Rustang crapfaster exhaust.

Either way, good luck!

BORLA is the way to go! One million mile warranty in writing! Solid Stainless Steel. The coolest looking fully-polished intercooled dual tips. Adjustable. Some people say it's too raspy, but they are usually the people who don't have one. I have a BORLA now on my current car, but I just sold a 94'Z28 that I put a BORLA on 7 years ago and after getting under the car to look at it, the guy who ended up buying it, said it looked like I just put it on last year! I live in Michigan not Florida. A VERY high quality product that will outlast your car! All exausts have their own "note" - you should go to a car club or car gathering place to listen to some different ones. Everyone has their own opinion of what sounds cool. Not everyone likes the same thing. Make up your own mind by listening to some of them if you can. Hope this helps.

I'm still not sure what to do??? I think stainless steal would be a better choice??? I think now I'm leaning towards the Whisper system. I'm also considering Corsa or GMMG chambered, but they are very expensive!!! Feel free to offer advice!!!
thanks again for all the help!!!

Yes, with ORP's the rasp is ridiculous. But WOT is insane! I get drone with ORP's too.

I used have the R/T aluminized system, but sold it for the Stainless system. I must say I liked the sound of the aluminized (w/stainless tailpipes) better than the full stainless. I'm glad I got the stainless because of the whole durability and shine thing, but it's just really quiet. Hopefully after the Hooker LT's (w/cats) it will be just right, but I really just like Random for the good horsepower gains.

Thanks again guys!!! I have all but ruled out any aluminized system, but am still weighing my options. There are too many to choose from!!! As for Borla, I too had a 94' Z28 with a borla system. I didn't like the tips though. The stainless Random Tech system, stainless Whisper system are the two front runners so far. Anyone not happy with there Whisper system??? The price of the two are similar, and the guys from LS1 speed.com say sound and performance are similar as well??? Anyone else with an opinion, please post!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts everyone, I need as much imput as possible!!!

Well, not sure if it's the same but my buddy has a Gale Banks system on his LT1 and it does sound very good. Unfortuantely it's not an apples to apples comparison. But, his system is 7 yrs. old and looks great.

New Banks system!..all stainless at the price of most aluminized system, and sounds bad a**!..I took off the Borla for this system, and i was shocked at how much better it sounds!...definately gets my vote!
