Default band clamp question

ok I've never used a band clamp before, so I'm not sure if this is the right way to do this...

The headers I am using are 3" collectors, the Y-pipe is 3" as well, and theres no overlap section its all butted together. Will a band clamp seal this? Is there any way to seal this other than welding, since I want to be able to remove it when necessary?

Thanks in advance, just trying to get ready for this weekends header install...

which headers and y-pipe? if its slip fit the y should be flared out to slip over the collectors, the band clamp actually pinches the two together for a tight seal and you wont damage the pipes for easy removal.

hooker headers and Y-pipe, but its NOT flared as its a used setup that was welded then cut. I was hoping there was some way to connect them without welding...

I may just weld an extension on the Y-pipe that will go over the collector, then band clamp that down...that might work if I can find the extension that will fit...

You could always put reducer flanges on the headers and y-pipe.Something like this.

Summit sells band clamps without the lap joint for slip fit. They are called butt joint. If you can get the headers and Y to meet all the way up, maybe a butt joint band clamp will hold 'em?

Maybe a muffler shop could expand the Y for you a bit to slip over the collector. Or if you can just spring for a new Y. Just so you get the best possible seal, and you can easily remove if ness.
