Before you install it let sit 200 degree water so it will expand,Then use a razor blade or snips to cut out the top and the side.

Well guys, I JUST got done doing the EGR mod and airbox mod as well as installing my Whisper lid and K&N ($50 from a guy on this site ). I too have also thought about doing the Fernco mod as I was JUST in Home Depot the other day. I just measured the TB and MAF and I got 3.75 (3 3/4) and 3.50 (3 1/2), respectively. I have a dremel and plan to do that mod once I get a clean look at the fernco. I know I'll be pissed if I crack my lid, even though I paid $50 for it.

I'm working on digging up a link to the company I bought my bellows from. It's designed for the intake tract on a semi if I remember correctly, is maybe $15 tops but has the ability to flex at it's midpoint (single rib) in an effort to save your lid from possible cracking.

Edit: Here is a pic, from jrp's sticky.

Thanks for that info. I had never heard about that with the Fernco mod and was debating doing it.

I bought the airflo one awhile back. I had to butcher it quit a bit to get it to fit, then decided I didn't care for it and run the stock one now. I'm much happier with the stock one.

Sorry for bringing this post back from the dead, but I have been reading about how ppl crack their lids with the Fernco or Lowe's brand. However if I have poly motor/trans mounts, would I even have to worry about the engine torquing enough to crack the lid? I would be running an SLP lid, stock MAF, and stock S3 ported TB. I wouldnt care about this mod for its small gains, but hate the look of the stock bellow. Thanks for the help
