Mac header install.......
Mac header install....... I put my MAC headers on today. No lift..... jacked up the front of the car about 14" I got the headers themselves on by myself in about 4 hours while my friend spent about 3 hrs. of his time wrestling with the original Y pipe that was rusted into the B&B cat back.(3 winters) Once that was sorted out it took about another 1 1/2 hrs to do everything under the car. Total work time from beginning to end was about 6 hours including cleanup. The headers went in very easily from the top with the coil packs and valve covers off. No engine jacking or anything like that. It's all a question of the angle you start with and how you turn the header as your dropping them in. All in all it was much easier than I expected and most likely would have been a 4 1/2 to 5 hr. job if not for that rusted Y pipe. Now ..... about the sound. That is one CRAPPY resonance or "rasp" at 2500 RPM otherwise it sounds great. There is definitely a seat of the pants difference above 3000RPM but because I have a "slippy" clutch, I doubt I am feeling the full extent of the HP increase. The clutch is next and then comes the cam. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: Mac header install....... Yeah, that sound is horrible. I don't wether to laugh or cry when I pass cars in that zone of sound.
Sounds like you figured out he Mac header install. The y pipe is the hardest part of all in my opinion.

Re: Mac header install....... The B&B is chambered right? IMO, any chambered muffler will sound that way(rasp) with headers. Some guys will have a bullet muffler welded in somewhere and that helps a lot..
I had the Random Tech and Magnaflow both on my car with Macs and no rasp. Now I've got true duals(with bullets and dumps) and I'm never going back to the traditional cat-back! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
