Default Does this seam right for an X-pipe?

my TA is half done at the exhaust shop... and this is what the X pipe looks like... not sure what to make of it... from what I understand, an x pipe helps to pick up scavanging... it brings it down to about a 3 1/2.

Um, no. Not from what I can tell in the picture. Check out some exhaust web sites to compare.

looks more like a Y pipe that splits into 2. still not too bad, i be more concerned about the crush bends. atleast you have somekind of a merge unlike that guy last week that just ran straight pipes with no merge all the way to the rear.

also why does one cat have a flange and one a band clamp?

The cats are like that because I asked to be able to remove that part of the exhaust when I need to pull the headders or what have you for engine work...

I'll show some pics of x-pipes when I go in this afternoon. I thought it looked off, though i wasn't sure if it would have a neg effect on performance.

That's exactly why I did my duals myself . I wonder what that shop's reasoning was for making a merge like that. Obviously not gaining any clearance by doing it that way, and it's not going to help exhaust scavenging like a true x would. Wonder how that's gonna sound when finished? What mufflers are you going to run?

mufflers... either none or a pair of resonators... not much room there for full mufflers

*Updated*

I talked with the guy putting this together, he said he only did it that way because I requested to be able to remove the headders and that part of the exhaust, said it was no problem to change it to the standard X.

Opinions?

With the crush bends, your going to need all the help you can get. I would have them change it to a real X.

I think youll be okay. Probably not a noticable gain to be found in replacing it. Ive been thinking about fabbing up a set of duals that mates to a standard Y pipe that would basically be the same idea.
