Im getting a similar ticking.. For me, its heard best from putting your ear around the passenger wheel well area... Its hard to hear it from the engine compartment, but it can still be heard.. It can also be heard from inside the car. Just started making this noise last weekend after headers, plugs and wires.. but i checked em all.. they are ok.. Local speed shop says i may have a bent pushrod or sticking lifter.. GRR.. let me know if you figure out the problem...!

I was messing around under the hood today, and decided to uplug the injectors one at a time to see if the noise goes a way.. and sure enough.. on the passenger side where the noise was coming from, the 3rd one back, i unplugged it, car ran a little rough but the noise deminished by a lot!.. so i went down to the Chevy Dealer.. apparently they have to replace injectors under federal mandate even if its out of warranty.. mine is a few months OUT of warranty and i have an appointment to get them replaced. Maybe ill slip the guy a 50, and get some Z06 injectors.. hehe we'll see

Really? Injectors must be replaced even if the car is out of warranty? Hmm, I have a lot of ticking in my engine bay, using original injectors. Of course, they'd probably just blame it on a noisey lifter or valve. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Default Tick, Tick, Tick, Goes the Fuel Injector!!

Guys...my '98 SS has only 9,300 miles on her. I've never raced it on the strip nor have I ever even bumped the rev-limiter. About 9 months ago I noticed a "ticking" sound coming from the passenger side. I've checked everything from plug wires to my air tubes (with metal gaskets) on each side and everything is tight and secure. When I put my ear down to the #2 cylinder I hear the ticking. I'm beginning to believe that the #2 injector is causing this "tick" I hear.

My question is: How hard is it to swap out fuel injectors on our cars?? The injector's themselves look easy to get to. This is one other thing I need to eliminate. Again, my car runs great without any problems at all but this "tick" is really getting on my nerves. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

RT:
Thanks for the information. As for the dealership having to replace the injector's themselves, that's a new one on me.

Does anyone have a writeup on how to install new injectors?? I have my Helm's manuals but sometimes it's just easier to get directions from someone who has actually swapped them out. I've done searches on both LS1.com as well as here and no one mentions "how to" swap out injectors. I would appreciate some more information.

Thanks!
