Ported TB questions.......
I guess my main concern is if the computer has to 'adjust' to the ported TB, that means to me that the computer will be changing some parameters (Ltrims, etc) and would maybe put me out of where I have tuned it in with my MAFT. I notice that a lot of people that do this also have a ported MAF (as I do) without a MAFT, so whatever the PCM changes must not effect it enough to justify re-tuning.
Any comments?? I know one of the benefits is less turbulence, but that would not require a couple hundred miles to notice, I wouldn't think.
Thanks
Paul
I guess I am curious as to why it requires a couple hundred miles before you notice any gains.....and what actually does the PCM learn after those miles?

The only adjustments I made was to correct the idle screw setting and make sure the IAC count was right.Saw no difference on L-terms or A/F.I did notice quiker throttle response and picked up 8 rwhp on my setup. This was with a Epoxy'd bellmouthed TB,Same as Shaner does.Too bad Shaner is booked,I was on the waiting list since April and still haven't got notice,so I went to a friend that did it and got another 130cfm out of it with the stock blade.

He will be porting my current TB and sending it back to me. I have mine stop block modded to give me 100% throttle abd I didn't want to get one that also had it done and have a possibility of the TPS voltage being too high.
Why and how did you to correct the idle screw setting? How did you check to see if the IAC (what is that?) count was right? I have AutoTap.....

After 3 months I went elsewhere to Scott Jantzer. I'm very pleased with the results.

A ported TB will not lean the car out UNLESS there is vacuum leak.
For $80 and thirty minutes to swap out it's worth doing, I think.
