Lower lid opening

Lower lid opening Is there any reason that most lifted lower lids are using foam or what looks like weather stripping rather than washers? Just wondering I thought a metal or plastic washer might look cleaner but if it shouldn't be done because of vibrations I could understand. Re: Lower lid opening If you're talking cold air systems, then you
want to not dilute that with warm underhood
air. If pressurized (ram air), then you want
to minimize leaks. Foam seals the undesired
sides of the air box. If you are careful with
how you apply it, it can be pretty invisible.
I used some closed-cell, black rubber foam
weatherstrip, and stuck it onto the bottom of
the box/support piece as ewll as making some
"washers" around the mounting bold holes. The
foam can't be seen (only having 1/8" rise has
something to do with that, of course).
Unfortunately, over 1/8" of rise starts to
bump my SS hood <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Re: Lower lid opening OK I feel stupid, that was obvious. I appreciate the heads up though. I had seen others making a 1/4" lift possible, not in your case? I am going to get rid of the septums and create a tighter front seal at the same time. How do I seal the box itself I've seen tech articles saying it leaks as well.
